While 2018 may not have been a great year for crypto markets in terms of prices, a plethora of other developments has made this year quite a transitional and important one.

Countries of the world are beginning to be clearer about regulations, infrastructure is being developed to enable institutional money to come in as well as mass adoption to be feasible, with more people being educated about this nascent space.

This is still just the beginning and I doubt we have even seen 1% of the power of the crypto-sphere. It truly has the potential to become more revolutionary than the internet itself and one day, I hope we will get there.

For now, every single news that pushes us towards that future seems to be a welcome one, especially in this bear market. The latest one comes from non other than Samsung, and it's quite a big one, if it comes true.

Making Crypto Mainstream

Samsung is one of the biggest manufacturers of smartphones in the world and there is no doubt that if it gets into the crypto space, it will enable mass adoption of crpytocurrencies that much faster and easier.

Recently, news broke out that Samsung plans to launch crypto cold wallets in its upcoming flagship series, the Galaxy S10. As we know, cold wallets are more secure than keeping your crypto on exchanges, this should provide customers with a great and convenient way to store their different cryptocurrencies.

The news came on the heels of another news that Samsung had filed for several blockchain related trademarks in the European Union, named Blockchain Key Store, Blockchain Key Box and Blockchain Core.

Samsung's crypto service is also expected to include a secondary wallet that will allow users to easily and securely send and receive cryptocurrencies and view their transaction history as well. It will be interesting if Samsung plans to somehow tie this up in their Samsung Pay service as well. That would be the real big news.

We will have to wait for February next year to see if all of this is actually true, when Samsung is rumoured to be launching the S10. Here's hoping it is real!
