Artificial intelligence might be regarded by many as a realm of science fiction, but do not be too surprised to find out that you’re already using it. It is no longer news that the Artifical Intelligence(AI) is all around us, intelligent machines that work and react like humans in carrying out activities like speech recognition, learning, planning, problem solving and so on. Video games is perfect example of instances of AI that most people are probably familiar with —since the very first video games, in fact we may recall in games like Far Cry and Call of Duty first-person shooters make significant use of AI.

The AI market is growing and it is growing at an increasing rate with a projected size of $15.7 trillion as early as 2030. As a result of AI's high data processing, diverging tasking and computational cost, it is dominated by large cooperations like Facebook, Amazon and Google that were able to develop these algorithm at this time thereby creating a very high entry barrier to the AI market.

Effect Force: Decentralized Mechanical Turk

As far back as 2005, a man called Venky Harinarayan believed that a platform could be created to take advantage of the fact that humans can easily perform certain tasks that were difficult for computers. Harinarayan predicted that there could be a way businesses could be built around those who wanted their research done with those who were willing to do it for them. He then created a marketplace in 2005, and called it the Mechanical Turk.

So therefore, Mechanical Turk could be described as a marketplace for work that requires human intelligence. In more recent times, we had the Amazon’s mechanical turk, Fiverr, OneSpace, and Guru.com which worked based on centralized business models. In the case of Amazon mechanical tuck(AMT), where requesters brings forth a micro task and the turkers would be a human fulfilling the micro task that the requester has listed. Amazon takes about 20% fee from the requester as charges and additional 5% Amazon for requesting workers that have a good track record. As we continue to advance, decentralization came into play via the blockchain and has become popular as well. As a result of its popularity, it was introduced into marketplaces and then startups like Effect.AL through its Effect force created a decentralized and open-sourced networks of workers and requesters to complete micro tasks more efficiently and at a fraction of the cost. Here, Effect.A network first phase Decentralized Mechanical Turk (M-Turk) provides solutions to these problem.

One major difference between Effect.AI Mechanical Turk (EMT) and others is that it works on a decentralized model making supply and demand to be connected more efficiently. EMT is a private, decentralized marketplace for work that requires human intelligence. EMT makes use of crowdsourcing logic in order to harvest human-based information that feeds AI algorithms.

EMT is a Crowd Sourcing Technology

It is a crowdsourcing technology that allows Requesters to create tasks called Human Intelligence Tasks(HIT) that will be completed by workers and they will determine the rewards for the HIT themselves. Workers in exchange for compensation (EFX token) will therefore complete a HIT presented by the requester. A HIT can include image classification, audio transcription, and data labeling. The process is generally geared to cut down costs, storage and time required to capture this same data by a single feed.

Effect.AI and the Labour Force in developing Countries

Human Intelligence has to do with reasoning, solving problems and learning. Virtually everyone could reason and proffer solution to a problem. Human Intelligence task does not require any specialized skill to perform a Human Intelligence Tasks. It can be performed by anyone even without specialized skill which means even the unbanked in any countries can work on The Effect Network whereas they cannot become a worker on other centralized platforms owing to the fact that they do not have any way to recieve their reward from a HIT(compensation).
