👛 The absolute BEST investment I made in crypto all year was not a coin. It was my Ledger Nano S hardware wallet 👛 Not only because it is safe

I made nice gains on several cryptocurrencies this year, but out of all my investments my Ledger Nano S is probably the best one yet. Every day I am increasingly satisfied with this little hardware wallet for more reasons than I thought I would be in the first place
Of course everybody knows that a hardware wallet is the most recommended storage for your crypto's, and this is the main reason why most people get one in the first place. But after using my Ledger Nano S wallet for a little over a month now I am actually the most enamored with it's ease of use !
Firstly, out of all the hardware wallets the Ledger Nano S offers the widest support for altcoins, which is great and the prime reason I got this. The default software that Ledger supplies is kind of 'meh' though. They make you fiddle with multiple Chrome extension apps which takes a little getting used to and isn't my preferred method.
Especially when you encounter ways of how it could be!
For example, today the new NEON wallet was released which lets you store your NEO on your Ledger Nano S. You simply open the NEON wallet application on your desktop, connect the Ledger Nano S and enter your pin, click the button and you're in! No other action required... No log-in, no passphrases, no nothing! This same mechanism works with Etherdelta too, a popular decentralized Ethereum based trading platform. You don't even have to make an account there, because your hardware wallet is the account. You simply plug the Ledger Nano S in, enter your pin, and it automatically recognizes and connects you to the service. Easy as pie! Whereas most users find Etherdelta confusing to use, I never really had a problem because it was pretty straightforward using my Ledger Nano S.
The most popular web-based Ethereum wallet www.myetherwallet.com also offers a similar way to connect. Whereas normally you need to fiddle with entering the private key, with the Ledger Nano S you simply plug it in, click the connect button, and you're ready to send Ethereum or ERC20 tokens.
One passphrase to rule them all
The beauty behind it all too, is that all of your crypto now simply has one passphrase: your Ledger Nano S passphrase. Before you may have had multiple wallets for multiple crypto's, but the Ledger Nano S uses the same passphrase for all your wallets. So by saving that single 24 word passphrase (which is generated without ever getting on your desktop and saved on paper by you), you can recover not only your Bitcoin address, but also your other altcoin addresses. Not just through another Ledger, but also through wallet suppliers that support 24 word passphrases.
I hardly use the default software that Ledger Wallet supplies, to be honest, except for the Bitcoin one. They are currently working on a standalone (non-Chrome) wallet application, that I imagine will be one application with which you can access all of your crypto's combined. When that is released, it will be even easier to use this device. But for now, I am already impressed by how much easier the Ledger Nano S has made my life in terms of remembering passphrases and keeping backups! It certainly is a huge improvement over the old method of keeping multiple software wallets backups all over the place.
A friend of mine has one and i tryed today, looks amazing, im thinking buying one too
Thanks for sharing
Yes, definitely do! Especially with what the future holds.. the dangers of centralized exchanges and the move towards decentralized ones, hardware wallets are going to play a more and more important role!
With decentralized exchanges you don't really need to hold the coins on a hardware wallet because you basically using your private keys to trade (like etherdelta) but for sure hardware wallets are always more secure and they keep getting sold everyday
Actually, decentralized exchanges and hardware wallets are a perfect match. You mentioned Etherdelta, and it's a great example how using a hardware wallet makes usage easier and better, because it does support the Ledger nano s
Exactly is 2 worlds well combined, all better security. In my opinion 2018 will be the year of decentralized exchanges, KNC, AST, etc...

Mate, my ledger is the next best thing since sliced bread :D
It almost is yes! Once the new desktop software is released, it's almost like sliced bread with toppings!
