Okay, so you may have heard of PiggyCoin before.
But if you haven't yet, here is some backstory.
PiggyCoin started in 2014 with the mission of helping children learn about cryptocurrency; a very important initiative in a world becoming progressively more digital. Most children are already familiar with digital money such as tokens in video games and in-app purchases. While this is valid commerce, it's not the best foundation to build knowledge about how to buy, trade, and use actual cryptocurrencies.
Initially PiggyCoin was designed to aid parents and teachers with a way to reward kids for things like homework, good conduct, and learning about crypto. Kids were rewarded with PiggyCoins in their PiggyBank for playing educational games and learning about blockchain technology. Parents could also deposit PiggyCoins via the standard send and receive wallet features. Kids had their own coin.
In addition, PiggyTeach added cool edutainment features to the usual crypto fintech, like faucets. PiggyCoin faucets were outfitted with a special feature. Kids had to answer an educational question before they got their free PiggyCoins. Games on the website included quizes, coloring, and interactive gaming. The community held contests and online activities.
Unfortunately, the coin suffered in an extremely difficult market 4 years ago. Maybe the world wasn't ready for kids to learn crypto yet. Altcoins in general were getting a bad rep. And so PiggyCoin lost steem, went dormant, and most of the team abandoned ship; except one developer.
A lot had changed in 4 years, especially online!
Recently, over the past few months there's been a surge in PiggyCoin interest. So the remaining developer pulled together a small team and restarted engines with a refreshed idea: to not only upgrade the blockchain but provide an edutainment portal and develop a framework for educators to integrate PiggyCoin into their schools, games, and apps.
Children's game developers may also find this an interesting way to gamify their appstore children's games affordably with PiggyCoin.
PiggyCoin also has a Marketplace where kids can spend their PiggyCoin if they wish.
PiggyCoin additionally helps fund humanitarian efforts in third-world countries.

I think this is a novel concept. Teaching children the value of money is always beneficial, and the children of today should definitely be learning about cryptocurrency. It is not unrealistic to think that crypto will be the world's primary medium of exchange at some point in the lifetime of our children.
I agree wholeheartedly. I feel it's as important as teaching children how to code. It's as valuable as speaking another language. There's so many coins out there trying different things though. What I liked about this one is that it's somewhat old and already has people holding. And it's already on exchanges. So despite the old school interface (which they intend to improve) the coin has some backbone. I think it could survive, with support, as a solid gaming token that can have real world value. Steem is very similar in philosophical concept. You get paid for doing something you already do. And you can cash out if you want but most won't. Most will use it within the system. And I think PiggyCoin has a good shot at being a children's economy with the right support. I posted in hopes I'm rewarded a bounty. However, if I get it, it's going 50/50 straight to my kids to get involved. I already got a wallet and am making some moves to tip it off with a few bucks anyway. I think it's worthwhile. Hopefully others feel similarly.

absolutely love the idea of Piggy coin, it's a great way to introduce kids to crypto and a cheap alternative for pocket money, at the moment.
My daughter feels rich having 10,000 coins vs $17 usd. I agree, it's awesome. I don't want to trade it in so I hope everyone gets some. It's so cheap too. And they can go play games for it, so any kid can get some just for coloring or playing a flash game. :)
