Zeke stood in the middle of Times Square, surrounded by a flood of people. This was his first time visiting the city that never sleeps, granted, but he knew what he wanted and where he was going. He looked up at a marquee billboard over the Knickerbocker Hotel advertising tickets to the Eminem concert he had been planning to attend that night.

Sold out, it flashed. No tickets available.

He grinned. He had already bought his tickets, a pair of them for him and his girl, Kiki. He saluted the billboard with his phone, knowing his evening was set, the night planned.

Kiki pressed into him, clutching his arm tighter. “You got tickets, right?” Her voice was hot and throaty.

“Yes’m,” he said with a laugh. “Ethereum in the wallet, BCShop in the middle, and tickets in my hand. Well, in my phone. Y’know. Easy.”

“My man,” she said, giggling.

He tipped an invisible hat in her direction.

His life had changed since he had started relying on BCShop vendors for his digital purchases. It sounded silly, even in his own head, but there was something...satisfying about buying something digital, intangible, and knowing it was safe. Hacker-proof. He could buy access to a movie, or tickets, or a subscription to online e-courses, and it was permanent. There were no lost records, no questions about who paid what, and when. It was permanently part of the blockchain.
