the cryptography today is practically impossible to break. Ironically that is the problem.
If you lose your private key, it is practically impossible for anyone to help you out.
For someone to be able to help you out means they have to also have a copy of the key.
That means you are not the only owner of the key anymore - and all the attendant issues that brings up, in particular with privacy coins.
