Very important issue going forward....I believe one of the ETF's attempting approval addresses the "safety" issue...I know insurance is involved...not clear on the ownership private key custody....
Its somewhat like passwords for bank account and brokerage statements...if stolen...thieves can access funds...and I believe some reimbursement is possible from the institutions....perhaps due to insurance?
Probably over time an encrypted technology will evolve allowing such deep masking...almost impossible to break?
the cryptography today is practically impossible to break. Ironically that is the problem.
If you lose your private key, it is practically impossible for anyone to help you out.
For someone to be able to help you out means they have to also have a copy of the key.
That means you are not the only owner of the key anymore - and all the attendant issues that brings up, in particular with privacy coins.
