My Experience Telling Someone About CryptoCurrency

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

As many of you know I live in the country. I am about a twenty-minute drive to the closest city of 30,000 people. We have a local gas station and I frequent it quite often because I am not making a 20-minute drive every day to go to the store. The gas station changed hands about a year ago and I don't know the new owners as well as the old owners, but I see them a few times a week.In the regard of seeing someone frequently we are not total strangers.

Yesterday, I asked the owner if he ever heard of cryptocurrency. I received the typical response of "No". I explained it briefly(if that's possible) but I made sure to get the point across that it's a network of trust which can help facilitate the movement of money over the Internet. I explained to him that it's a technology that will change the world. "Look it up on the internet and read about it", I told him.

The owner always keeps his smartphone by him and has even annoyed me quite a few times talking on the phone while checking me out. As I was leaving he picks up his phone and starts to type on it. In my mind, I am sure he is looking up cryptocurrency. "I could have changed a life" is what I was thinking... "I brought someone onto this amazing ride that will socially and financially change lives".

I went back to the store today and the owner was working again. I asked him "Did you look up Bitcoin or cryptocurrency on the internet?". The "No" he gave me had a tinge of annoyance in it. I told him "You should really look it up; it's going to be a part of our future just like the internet is a part of our lives now". He told me "I'm not worried about it. Sounds like another fad to me".

I know my eyes had to get wide as saucers. I just dropped it. I am the type of person that speak my mind and you can take it or leave it. I'm not going to keep repeating myself. I kinda felt sad for him on the way home...for a brief twinge. Then I laughed uncontrollably when I realized I will be the guy haunting his nightmares one day. The guy he should have listened to in 2017.

I never thought I would be in someone's nightmares for trying to pass on knowledgeable info. That is kind of a cool feeling especially because I didn't even do anything to harm another person. I'm going to be in his nightmares by just trying to be a helper.

Be a helper. Tell others about crypto...and then laugh because you too will one day be the person in other people's nightmares.

thanks a bunch.

They say: Jesus will return like a thief in the night.
There are a few good lessons in the bible if the phrases are not interpreted literally or with religious fanaticism.

Your story is a great lesson on the truth that no matter who the other person is and how different they might seem from you, they very well could have something to teach you. In this case, you were the other person and your message was missed. Hopefully he thinks about it later and looks it up anyway.

Yeah, we never know who might teach us something...my kids teach me stuff all the time. Hopefully, this person will follow up to learn about a technology that could personally change their life.
