The new occupation. Crypto-prospectin'
So, I've been pretty quiet lately, and that's because I have decided to take up mining. This here rig above has an Nvidia 1060 3Gb and 1080 8gb, and churns out approximately $9 a day using nicehash.
I will be getting another rig in a day or two, this one will have the top end amd APU, a pair of AMD RX 580s and I expect it will do me for a good 10-15ish somewhere around that.
I need to ensure my future income so I can continue to work on the Dawn Network, not be worrying about when I'm going to snag a contract. I'll be running a small farm of these rigs so I'm making enough money to cover extras that come along as well.
Oh, I forgot to mention what I am mining. I am using Nicehash: https://www.nicehash.com - windows only, it benchmarks your rig, calculates how much hash you got for each algorithm, and automatically selects the one with the biggest reward per hash. Set and forget. It is very nice indeed.

I am moving house this weekend also, to stay with @deearchi and her man Vladimir, out of the dungeon, to nearly the top of a 10 story tower, with a perfect view of the rising sun in the morning... And then I will get back to working on Dawn, finish the protocols and start actually writing the program bits...
It's nice to finally not be having to worry about not having enough money to even have a house...

Wish I could start mining again... electricity costs way too much here in Australia to make it worthwhile!

Nice, What crypto do you mine?
nicehash takes care of deciding what to mine, it just benchmarks your rig on all the algorithms, so it knows what hashrate, divides that by the difficulty and the current price so you mine whatever is the most profitable. Currently it's mining a mix of lbry and equihash. I highly recommend nicehash.

Does it have so you can set electric cost and get that in the mix of the calculation, I mean it might show what coin is profitable to mine but if it use more power cost then the mining output.

Awesome, L0ki! I'm gearing up to do the same thing. Approx how much did the rig/s cost to build? Just curious how long until ROI is achieved for the machine itself
This one was about $1300ish... so I guess in about 150 days (5 months) it returns. But part of why I got it is for cashflow more so than just earning money. It's a machine that you put money in, and money comes back out, slowly. I know it will have paid for itself in 5 months time, but in the meantime I know there's $280/month or so coming out of it, which pays my rent and food bills, on an ongoing basis.
Oh I agree, I was just curious about the initial input. I'm looking forward to seeing how it's going in a month or so:)

I will be... yes, I have 4 more big powerdown payouts and I plan on getting another 2 or 3 rigs. This is how I'm going to fund the development of Dawn so it's a priority to get it in order sooner rather than later.
With cheap electricity, should be some good opportunities out there.
