LOST ALL MY ETHEREUM ON STEEMIT!!!!!!!

Have you ever made a terrible investment, been a victim of fraud, or had something stolen from you? You know how I feel right now. IT SUCKS!

I am an emotional person, and in my excitement over Steemit, I made a hasty and serious mistake.

I am new to Steemit and quickly realized that it is really important to have Steem power, so I decided to power up using Blocktrade. So, I logged in to Bittrex and sent over all the Ethereum (not much about 0.3 ETH) in my account. I was hooked on the Steemit platform and community and wanted to become a regular contributor.

After a few hours, I realized that the transaction had been confirmed but I was not credited my Steem power. I contacted Blocktrade and they notified me that the Steem was added to my account already.

I checked my account, and it was the same as before. Block trade sent me this path https://steemit.com/@rav/transfers , and sure enough it was there.

The thing is my name is Rav, but that is not my account. My account name is @etheraveum, I go by Rav. Notice how both accounts have the name rav.

When I was using Blocktrade I could not get a deposit address for @etheraveum, it was my first time using the platform so I tried "rav" because it shows up as my blog name. Well, that worked and that was my mistake.

I understand that this is my fault, and I take full responsibility. Going forward I will be more careful when transferring crypto currencies. I made a mistake but it still hurts a lot because I worked really hard to get that ETH.

I have reached out to Block trade and Steemit for support but unfortunately their is nothing that can be done.

I am feeling horrible, ashamed, and embarassed but I am not looking for any sympathy.

I just want to hopefully reiterate the importance of verifying accounts, the finality of crypro transactions, and sending small inital transaction amounts.

Lesson learned, when buying Steem for the first time please send a small amount and not everything you have.

I still absolutely love Steemit, and will continue to post, but it appears I will have to build my Steem power from the ground up, which is ok, and hopefully, I can recover my losses one day.

I can't afford to make a deposit right now, and I am NOT looking forward to explaining this to my wife who is already skeptical about crypto currencies in general.

I'm going to take the rest of the day off from writing. Have a nice day.

Please resteem (even though it is very embarassing) so others can be reminded and learn from my mistake

Upvoted your post! You earned already more than 0.3 ETH in Steem by posting this. Try to see it positive, without this happening, you shouldn't have this story to share that made you more than you lost! This is the power of Steemit!

Maybe an idea, if you send someone Steem, you can add text with the transaction. Just send a tiny bit of steem to Rav and add the link to your story and request him to send you the Steem.

Yes, Thank you so much! What an interesting and amazing story it is! Steemit is truly awesome. I never thought I would get so much love in return. This scenario I think is unique, but the lesson is universal. Thanks for helping me get this reminder out to the community. Also, I think that is a great idea to send Steem. Thx again

Yikes! A tale of caution indeed...

Yeah, hopefully this reaches as many people as possible. It's a roller coaster of emotions. I go from feeling super embarassed (this is on the blockchain) and regret posting, to looking at the bigger picture and accepting it. Live and learn !

Also, thanks for reading and upvoting @crachau

Thank you for bringing awareness to others who may have done this already or who are new and may be at risk in the future.

Everyone listen to @etheraveum and the advice he gave. Don't send everything at once until you test the address you are sending it to! This is one of the top Crypto rules to live by.

I would only feel worse if this happened to someone else and I never piped up. Thanks for your comment. How can I get the word out? I wish there was a pin or something.

This is really all you can do. Excellent post. To the point and explained exactly what happened.

Ok, I reached out to some of the guys like @boxmining and @jerrybanfield to see if they would be willing to read my post and if they felt it could benefit others, they could possibly resteem. They have a longer reach. It kind of feels like I'm screaming and no one can hear me. Do you think it is appropriate to ask others like that? Thx @cryptwarz for communicating with me, I'm new and trying to meet others like yourself but without the chat it's tough.

Reaching out is a good choice. I wish I had more followers to get the word out to but I just got here yesterday. I followed you so in the future I will be happy to Resteem ☺

school of hard knocks.. anyways maybe @rav comes here and sends you money back

@kingscrown thanks for replying! Yes, I have not made a mistake like that before, and I definitely won't ever again. I have so much faith in the community, that you actually came and read my post, it's encouraging for sure. I doubt I ever see that ETH again. I want to stick around and hopefully create value. Share my passion, and maybe people will upvote.

Aight, sorry to hear - upvoted your story for others to see and not make some bad steps ;)

Thank you! I will continue to support you, and one day my votes won't be like 3 cents. Thanks for being a community leader, I appreciate it and I am sure that others will too. Thx again
