International Regulator Taps Top Japanese Crypto Regulator
The top cryptocurrency regulator in Japan, Ryozo Himino, has recently been appointed by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) as its new head of its Standing Committee on Supervisory and Regulatory Cooperation.
Himino will be taking over the responsibilities of the former head, Norman Chan, the head of Hong Kong’s Monetary Authority.
According to FSB, Himino was chosen due to his experience in international policy regulatory matters as well as his experience with respect to cryptocurrency regulations.
It was reported that Himino’s new position at the FSB will focus on the regulations of Facebook’s proposed Libra cryptocurrency, stating that he will leverage his experience in drafting robust laws that will govern libra’s operations.
