Airline CEO Launches Crypto Exchange
The CEO of the largest airline in Scandinavia and the third-largest low-cost in Europe, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Bjorn Kjos has launched the Norwegian Block Exchange (NBX) last April of this year and will be rolling out the NBX later this year which is seen by many will also be opening up the airline business of cryptocurrency adoption.
The company was able to raise around $250,000 first round capital from Observatoriet Invest.
From a highly successful airline business to cryptocurrency exchange it seems that the Norwegian billionaire is taking diversification quite seriously.
In fact it has been said that it plans to rival exchanges like GDAX and Kraken.
Mastercard Applies For Patent To Secure Card Payments Via Blockchain
The US Patent and Trademark Office USPTO has released information that the financial service provider giant Mastercard has filed a patent for a Blockchain-powered system that would provide a faster and more secure payments on their cards.
It is described as a Blockchain-assisted payment system that can be use to transmit and receive users information securely that is verifiable.
Mastercard want minimal participation by the consumers which implies that it wants to provide this service as secure and as convenient as possible.
Moscow Prepares To Conduct ICOs
The main liquidity and price discovery center for Russian Financial instruments, Moscow Exchange (MOEX), is said to be preparing the needed infrastructure that will allow interested parties to conduct Initial Coin Offering.
According to the CEO of the said exchange, Alexander Afanasiev, the exchange will not list tokens but will just provide information about the responsibilities of token issuers, information about tokens and list of ICOs to would be investors.
He also reveals that the organization is looking into future contracts for ICOs and might as well provide it if there is enough demand from investors.
Venezuela Government Facilitating Crypto-Mining
Venezuela Government has clarified its stand in crypto-mining declaring the activity completely legal but not before confiscating more than 11,000 crypto miner’s in Valencia and the arrest of 4 individuals with more than 300 ASICS which was charged with cyber fraud and electricity theft.
Due to the doubt whether crypto mining is legal companies such as Liberty Express decided to suspend their import services for computer parts products related to crypto-mining.
To resolve this issue the Venezuelan Superintendence of Cryptoactivities and Related Activities (SUPCACVEN) demanded the elimination of any documentary requirements for importation of cryptocurrency mining.
Bithumb Cleared By Goverment
The South Korean government has concluded their 3 months investigation on Bithumb, the largest exchange in the country and have found no evidence of wrongdoing in the part of Bithumb according to local news outlets.
Government agencies that was involved in bithumb’s investigation includes, National Tax Service (NTS), Financial Service Comission (FSC) and Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KFIU).
However after the investigation Bithumb was ordered to pay 30 billion won ($28 million) in taxes. It was not clear if the resulting taxes was a direct consequence of the investigation but it is important to note that NTS stated that Bithumb has continuously paid all of the taxes imposed to the company without any conflict with the said agency.
