Weiss Ratings Recommends Ripple’s XRP

According to the founder and current CEO of Ripple, Brad Garlinghouse, major wave of institutional investors is going to step-in the third quarter of this year.

However he laments that institutional buyers who are moving into XRP are not impacting the price primarily because most of these buyers are using Over-the-counter instead of the normal exchange.

Weiss Ratings reveals that Ripple is the fastest digital asset to transfer funds between exchanges and recommends Binance to use it as a base currency asking why should Binance go through an intermediary currency to trade.

It also reveals that Ripple company has plans of integrating all of Ripple’s software into a complete solution for financial institutions dubbed Convergence leveraging the technology of XRP.

North Korea Holding A Blockchain Conference

The Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea (DPRK) is said to be having a blockchain and cryptocurrency conference.

The First Korean International Blockchain Conference will be a two-day event in Pyongyang in October.

North Korea appears to be trying to show off its capabilities when it comes to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies.

This comes amidst accusations that the regime has been involved in several high profile hacks which enable them to amass more than 11,000 BTC through mining and hacking in 2017.

Due to the country’s limited access to global financial system it has been trying to take advantage of the opportunities that come with cryptocurrencies in terms of unrestricted and anonymous transactions.

Availability of crypto courses in Pyongyang University highlights the seriousness of the Regime to develop the country’s potential in blockchain and related technologies.

Central Bank of Venezuela Releases App to Convert Bolivar to Petro-Pegged Currency

The Banco Central de Vanezuela, the central bank of Venezuela has released an Android application that will help its residents to convert the country’s old fiat currency, the bolivar, to the Sovereign Boliver that is said to be pegged to the Petro.

The application is called Calculadora Soberana which translates to Sovereign Calculator.

The said application does not really make any complex calculations as it just takes away five zeroes from the bolivar to convert it to the crypto-pegged currency at a ratio of 1:100,000.

Aside from the conversion functionality it also helps users keep updated with the latest news and information on currency conversions.

The said application has been downloaded the thousand times and has a rating of about 4.7 on the Google store.

Iran Draft’s State-backed Crypto

The National Cyberspace Center if Iran as recently revealed the draft of the state-backed cryptocurrency.

The national digital currency project was initiated upon instructions form President of Iran Hassan Rouhani.

The deputy director in charge of drafting the regulations for Iran’s Supreme Cyberspace Council has stated that the state authorities will soon remove the existing uncertainty around cryptocurrency since the Central bank of Iran is set to introduce its official stance on the issue at the end of September.

Cryptocurrency is said to be banned in the country over concerns of money laundering that were first raised in the latter part of 2017.

The Iranian government seems to be following the same route Venezuela is taking in with.
