PayPal Fee Structures Highlights the Need for Crypto and Bitcoin

According to reports, online Paypal will now be keeping all seller’s fees when processing a refund.

While payment companies like PayPal are entitled to implement such self serving policies like this one for whatever reason they please, this could actually drive online merchants towards alternate payment networks such as Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency.

This development has infuriated many of its loyal users, previously the company takes a small set fee of 30 cents from the seller in each retail transaction occurred on the network, as well as 2.9 percent of the goods or services being sold.

In the event of refund for whatever reason, the set fee would be kept by PayPal while the 2.9 percentage taken out of the amount will be refunded to the seller.

The new policy states that by May 7, 2019 the international payment processing firm will not only keep the processing fee of 30 cents but will also keep the 2.9 percent as well.

The unfairness of the policy have irked merchants using PayPal as it is essentially the same as charging the merchant for the customer changing their mind about a purchase.
