A few months ago, I joined the cryptocurrencies community via the Bitcoin Talk forum. For me the crypto world was not new, I had heard about it for several years (ha-ha if I had had more time to plunge myself a little more at that time...) but it is never too late and so in May this year I started investing a little bit of money on Bitcoin, alt-coins, some ICO and registering and starting to participate in this forum .

I would talk about the investment experience and the general Bitcoin Talk experience soon in other articles; I would like to focus here solely on one of the most beautiful discoveries I have since made on Bitcoin Talk, namely the Deep Onion.

Deep Onion, what is it?

Deep Onion is a new crypto-currency aimed at raising the level of confidentiality of its users, reducing the risks of being pirated or attacked, notably thanks to the native integration of the TOR network. If you have never heard of TOR, please do so on Wikipedia.

Deep Onion guarantees anonymity.
It was this integration with TOR that sharpened my curiosity and interest the first time I heard of Deep Onion on Bitcoin Talk.
With Deep Onion, you can send and receive onions (ONION - the currency symbol) on the TOR network.

On the technical side, Deep Onion is a hybrid crypto-currency using PoS (Proof of Stake) and PoW (Proof of Work - X13 algorithm). To make it simple, it is possible to mine the bitcoin but it can also be generated simply by extending the network (concretely by letting its wallet open in stacking mode). This has another advantage of long-term stability and also allows transactions much faster than those that we have with Bitcoin.

Airdrop

As a young member of Bitcoin Talk (Jr. Member), I was able to participate at the Airdrop of Deep Onion from the start. For those who do not know an Airdrop is a free token distribution.

But what interest? Make money known, create a strong community. And it works!

The rules of participation in the airdrop are relatively strict in order to avoid cheating, and to ensure the quality of its supporters and community. Each week all members receive ONION for free. The amount received will depend on their Bitcoin Talk member level, the total number of participants in the Airdrop and can be increased by a factor x2 to x5 depending on their active participation in the community. Personally even though I try to get involved enough in the community I lack time to be in these multiplier factors.

And it is worth it?

This question often comes up in the world of cryptocurrencies but does it really make sense? If we consider that cryptocurrencies are the future of money, can we compare them with classical currencies?

OK OK enough philosophy, yes it can bring back some returns. But as Deep Onion's supporter it is not my main concern, money is young, new developments are under way, the community is enormous but young as well and if it gets the success it deserves, its value will follow.

Personally I received more than 2,000 ONION via airdrop, I missed one unfortunately due to vacation. At the top of the currency [https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/deeponion/] a week ago ($5), it was more than $10,000; yes yes you read it well. The current price is about $1 but my overall strategy is HODL (term used in the cryptocurrency world of to indicate that we keep - hold the currency wishing that its course goes up in the future). Is this a good strategy? I think that this currency can be a real success but the future will tell us. And I hope the Deep Onion will go "to the moon"!

 "To the moon"?

It is an expression that often comes up in this area, which broadly depicts the flight of the token price "to the moon".

Starting from this principle and finding that the onion has a particularly aerodynamic shape I wanted to bring my little contribution to the community trying to create some graphics on this theme. So I'm not a graphic designer at all, I just know how to do 2 or 3 things with GIMP.

Here are my first creations, an avatar and wallpaper (first image of this article), others will come, I have some other ideas including GIF ;-)

First of all, if you do not have an account on Bitcoin Talk you won’t be able to participate in the airdrop yet but I invite you to register as soon as possible and start participating in the forum.

This for 2 reasons:

• to raise your member rank (depends on your activity and the account age)
• this forum is a mine of information to know and understand the world of cryptocurrencies.
