May Surpasses 2018's Down-Trend For Total Raised By ICOs Monthly
The total sum of capital raised through initial coin offerings (ICOs) in May has exceeded the total sum that was raised in April. This marks the first month that gained more ICO capital than the last in 2018.
As I publish this article, icodata.io estimates that ICOs have raised $795 million USD in may - which is more than a 41% increase to April's total of $561 million.
Mean Total Of ICO Capital Has Declined in 2018
Initial coin offerings seem to be thriving even though increasing numbers of challenges now face the ICO industry. These challenges include advertising bans, heightened regulation and widespread rumors that returns from ICOs has declined.
The total sum of ICO capital in 2018 is estimated to be $5.1 billion as of posting this article (which means we have reached more than 82% of the $6.1 billion raised in 2017).
The mean total raised in 2017 with 871 ICOs was just over $7 million, equating to half a million more raised in comparison to $6.5 million raised by 780 ICOs in 2018.
EOS Is The Most Successful ICO Of All Time!
The below graph is from icodata.io. It reveals that EOS (with $200 million USD raised) is the most prosperous ICO which is still active.
EOS has raised in excess of $4 Billion, making it the largest ICO ever.
This is quite surprising when we consider all the controversy that has surrounded EOS because its terms state that the EOS tokens have no actual application or functionality on the EOS platform.

April was the lowest ICO funding has gone in 8 months so May was a welcome relief to Crypto enthusiasts like me.
Many people believed the "ICO hype" was ceasing in April, yet we are looking at a great rebound just a month later.
This will hopefully give everyone more courage to hold their Cryptos and let us ride some big decentralized waves.

Good data, the question is can we expect 2018 to exceed 2017 expectations? We do not know for sure, but with the increase of adhesion to the crypto we can expect new levels for the ICO market, this year.
