Cryptocurrency for Newbies - Crypto Cousins Podcast
Let me just start out by saying this post is meant for those that are cryptocurrency novices. Whether you are just looking to get started or just recently got involved. If you own multiple cryptocurrencies or know the difference between a software wallet, a hardware wallet and exchange, this is not for you.
I found out about the Crypto Cousins podcast in the same way I found out about Steemit, searching my podcast aggregator for the term "Bitcoin". My first search last June led me to a podcast called "Beyond Bitcoin", which I'm sure many of you are aware as it is run by @officialfuzzy. The first couple episodes I listened to where like in a foreign language to me. But fuzzy does a great job with these and I soon started picking up more and more each week. It was from that podcast that I found Steemit. I admit, it took me a few months, ok, a few more than a few months before I decided it was time to become an active contributor. Of course now I wish I had become more serious sooner.
Enough of the history, back to the subject of this post. Sometime in late October my podcast search yielded the "Crypto Cousins" podcast which claimed to be geared towards beginners. What was really appealing was that one of the co-hosts was completely new to crypto and would ask the good questions for beginner that would be overlooked by those in the know. I had bought my first bitcoin in 2014 and let it sit at Coinbase, so I had some knowledge, but not a lot (as you can tell by me leaving my bitcoin on an exchange).
Who are the "Crypto Cousins"?

They are Tony Cecala (left) and Gary Leland (right). Tony is the cryptocurrency expert and Gary is the podcasting and business expert. Here are pertinent excerpts from their website about them.
Tony is a sought-after consultant, speaker, and digital pioneer who brings successful high-tech strategies to local business niches.
For the past 20 years Tony has pioneered digital approaches to local advertising, niche marketing, and event production.
Tony produced the Emerging Tech Conference in 2012 and 2013 and has been the organizer of the DFW WordPress Group for 9 years.
Gary started his first brick and mortar store in 1981, His first e-commerce site in 1996, and his first podcast in 2004.Time Magazine included his podcasting website in their 50 coolest websites of 2006. In 2016 Gary was inducted into the Academy Of Podcasters Hall Of Fame, and in 2017 The Mayor of Arlington, Texas proclaimed March 1st Gary Leland Day.
Gary produces The Gary Leland Show, The Podcast Ambassador, The Fixer Upper Podcast, The Home Town Podcast, The Fastpitch Radio Show, and The Fastpitch TV Show.
Gary is also a co-founder of Podcast Movement, and co-founder of Podcast Dallas.
The Podcast
They release a new podcast once a week and I think they are up to episode 11 that came out today. Their goal is for a 30 minute podcast, but they have yet to be able to keep it that short.
For a new start up podcast, they have had some great guest like Trace Mayer and John McAfee. Regardless of your thoughts of either of these guests, they are big names to be able to pull in for interviews.
I have found all their podcast informative in some way. At times it can be a little annoying as the give out their links from their website, but I get they are trying to spread their presence.
They do a good job covering the latest new in the crypto world each week. I usually listen to the podcast on my way to work and the time just flies right by.
The Website
In addition to their podcasts, they have also amassed quite a collection of YouTube videos on various crypto topics. In full disclosure, I have not watched any of them.
There is also a news section and a store that sells their mining rigs, hardware wallets, and apparel.
Check out their website, there is a lot of good information as well as a link list of all the places you can get the podcasts.
Closing Thoughts
Overall, if you are relatively new to crypto or are looking to get started, I think the podcasts are a great resource. Yes there is a ton of information on the internet, but it is very hard for the novice to put the pieces together. I think Tony and Gary do a good job breaking it down into bite sized chunks that a novice can easily grasp.
My only disappointment is that they have a facebook page that they seem to push hard. I get the feeling that Tony is more of a privacy guy than Gary and probably holds the same disdain for facebook as most of us do. I do understand they are reaching out to newbies and facebook is a good source, but it sure would be nice if they had a less privacy intrusive place than facebook for 'cousins' to hang out once they become hooked.
All in all, I would suggest giving their podcasts a listen.

I stick with YouTube lately, but think YouTube has a lot more crap to sift through then podcasts.
I'll have to check them out. I find that any crypto "experts" are pushing either a course or some other thing hard to further monetize what they do.
Ya, they do push their affiliate link to coinbase as you get $10 of BTC and they get $10 of BTC when signing up . Sold as a win/win. I know they hope to grow into more than once a week, but that takes time and money to do, so I can overlook the 'fundraising' aspects as long as there is good content to be had. They do sell mining rigs as well.
I have no access to crypto due the traffic. There is no way for me to buy PIVX or another crypto with IDeal, a Dutch payment system. :( Click like for a donation in Steem ;P
