COINS I HOLD - Part 2 - STRONG HOLD coins

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago

It's hard to know what to buy and what to sell in crypto

Sometimes it's useful to have a benchmark - someone to compare with so you can see how they do it. Today I volunteer myself to be your benchmark.

This is the second part of a series which started yesterday. Yesterday dealt with my longest-term hodl coins, those I cling to like a bulldog biting the leg of an intruder. Make sure you didn't miss that post.

Today's post

This post is about the coins I want to hold strongly. Unlike yesterday's coins, I may still sell them if something happens e.g a big delisting looms, or some sort of scandal. As you saw yesterday with Envion, my longest term coins get held even through things like that. Make no mistake, these are still good coins (Except for MERCA - as you will see later). I hold a lot more USD value of some of these coins than some other coins I mentioned yesterday. There are also high potential ROI gems hidden in this batch.

Tomorrow (probably tomorrow) I will present my remaining coins ("temporary hold", "speculate" and "dump next time the price spikes" and a few leftovers) in one post. Without further ado:

COINS I HOLD - Part 2 - Strong Hodl coins

Here are my strong hodls in approximate order of how much (in USD or BTC) I hodl:

  1. OmiseGo (OMG) - What do you call OMG? It's hard to pigeonhole it. It's an Ethereum token designed to facilitate the transfer of digital assets. Designed to work with crypto or fiat assets, inter-blockchain transfers and with its own DEX. A lot of potential here.

  2. Qtum (QTUM) - Another platform, this Frankenstein child of Bitcoin and Ethereum technology is designed to run smart contracts on mobile devices. It's compatible with Bitcoin and Ethereum gateways. It gets impressive daily volume.

  3. Enjin Coin (ENJ) - Enjin has existed as a gaming platform for several years and is already well respected by the gaming community. The launch of its own coin (which is actually a token) was always going to be a popular move. While not mentioned in my Big Groups to Invest in post, gaming coins have a lot of potential. Gamers have been buying digital coins for a lot longer than what cryptocurrencies have been around! Several coins are trying to monetise in-game assets and existing gaming currencies. Enjin is the (disputable) leader of that pack.

  4. TenX (PAY) - A payment coin that keeps struggling, but never gives up. Severely setback when their credit card partner pulled out, TenX soldier on bravely. I have often thought of dumping this coin and cutting my losses, but every time I check back with the team they are still soldiering on in a very positive direction. I firmly believe that they will eventually get TenX credit cards that work distributed around the globe. It's a game changer for crypto, and these guys have been pioneering it since day one.

  5. Request Network (REQ) - A payment coin which provides a service for payment requests. Think along the lines of a "Blockchain PayPal".

  6. Covesting (COV) - Here is a really good place to make money, I expect big ROI from COV. Covesting is a trade copying coin. You get to automatically copy the trades of the best traders, ranked by previous performance, and you can copy a blend of multiple traders at once. Not unique, but probably the leading coin of its type.

  7. DashCoin (DASH) - One of the older cryptos. It's a currency (like Bitcoin), but pretty fast. Though not really designed explicitly to be one, it has privacy coin features (which is a huge bonus). I have often used DASH to move funds around, because it is reliable, quick, cheap and widely accepted. Its usefulness and reputation should ensure its value for many years to come.

  8. Quantstamp (QSP) - A very good idea in a growing cryptosphere: QSP verifies smart contracts. I'm surprised that I haven't seen any competitors, at least not yet. I can imagine them becoming very busy!

  9. Tron (TRX) - If you don't know Tron then you must have been living under a rock for the last year. (Welcome back, we missed you!) It's a platform, it's benefiting from big hype at the moment and it just keeps climbing in value. How long will it keep doing so? Impossible to tell. Anyone who says they know the answer to that is a either delusional or a liar. You can tell them I said so.

  10. Everex (EVX) - Another payment platform - designed for the global exchange of fiat currencies. It runs on the Ethereum blockchain and includes lending functions and some clever token functionality.

  11. Aragon (ANT) - Aragon want to remove the interference of governments and regulations from organisations. They aim to replace such bodies by fulfilling their intermediary functions (where necessary) online. Honestly I'm not as positive about it as I used to be, I'll probably downgrade it to a "Speculate" level coin soon.

  12. Bitcoin Gold (BTG) - A legitimate fork of Bitcoin that broke away from SHA-256 and implemented Equihash instead. A big problem with Bitcoin is that mining is centralised, it's in the hands of a few elite entities. By breaking away from SHA-256, BTG makes its mining accessible to all, and becomes far more decentralised (Equihash can be mined on graphics cards in normal PCs or home built mining rigs). Since ETH is mined with Equihash too, BTG aimed to grab the ETH mining hardware when ETH switches to Proof of Stake (PoS) and is no longer mined. Unfortunately for BTG, Ether is taking its sweet time to make the promised switch, leaving BTG in uncertain territory. It could still become very popular if and when Ether does finally make the switch, so I'm holding mine like a koala holds a eucalyptus tree.

  13. Walton (WTC) - The only coin that could keep VeChain awake at night. It's a good logistics coin, but not as good as VEN.

  14. Metal (MTL) - Another payment coin. Metal uses a smartphone as its method of payment, as opposed to a card like TenX or a web app like UTrust or something else like Request Network. Since smartphones are everywhere, it's a clever idea that might go really big,

  15. Neblio (NEBL) - Neblio is another platform, built for businesses. They're trying to make it easy for a business to use their blockchain by offering a variety of tools. Their network is up and running.

  16. district0x (DNT) - district0x is another one of those "hard to define" cryptos. It's an integrated marketplace of businesses and their associated service providers and tools e.g. bulletin boards. The "districts" are grouping of blockchain based entities that share a similar theme/market. It's linked to Ethereum and Aragon.

  17. Privatix (PRIX) - Users sell their surplus internet bandwidth to become a crypto based VPN. A bit like Substratum. Great for privacy and stopping governments breathing down your neck. This coin is seriously undervalued.

  18. Kyber Network (KNC) - Kyber is a decentralised exchange that is designed to be integrated into other cryptos, apps, wallets etc. A damn good idea if you ask me. I've seen it used quite a bit already.

  19. Snovio (SNOV) - Existing internet platforms fail to do this properly - Snovio will try to fix it: Lead Sourcing. Finding who and what you need for your business.

  20. Deep Brain Chain (DBC) - It's blockchain, it's A.I., it's better than Golem, it's worth a buy.

  21. Civic (CVC) - Similar to THEKEY from yesterday's post, this first mover in blockchain identity verification also has a very bright potential future.

  22. Safe Exchange Coin (SAFEX) - Led by the dynamic Daniel Dabek, SAFEX has the same kind of bad luck that TenX does. Near simultaneous delistings from Bittrex and Cryptopia (who pulled a very dodgy wallet unavailability move - and have lost my trust ever since) hurt the value badly. They also lost me a fortune. (Thanks you selfish bastards.) But the team are determined and SAFEX is slowly trying to rise again. Worth holding.

  23. Mercatox (MERCA) - Be afraid, be very afraid! Investing in MERCA is like investing in cold fusion. It will probably never work, but if it does you'll make a veritable fortune. Mercatox is an exchange (it is growing now, but not without problems, so we'll see). One of the riskiest non-scam coins you can buy. You have been warned. If you are interested, I did an in-depth review of it two months ago. Nothing much has changed since then. It is VERY cheap. https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@bitbrain/cryptocurrency-spotlight-merca-coin

  24. Restart Energy (MWAT) - First came Power Ledger, then came We Power. Now Restart Energy is here. As an electricity sales coin, the potential is obvious. Much cheaper than it's competitors, but that certainly doesn't make it any worse than them. A good potential ROI coin.

So that's what I'm hiding in my strong hodl safe. What's in yours? What are your ideas on these ones? Any questions from prospective investors? Stay tuned for the final episode in the series of many coins I hold!

Yours in crypto,
Bit Brain

Great summary on these assets! I did not know some of the details you provided so thanks forbl the information as there are so many now available. Unfortunately, most of the ones in the general market will fail but true projects that can deliver will create value in the long term. Followed you as I look forward to more content.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, see you around.
