Tykn is the Permanent Solution To Faulty Identity Management Systems

A few days ago, I came across Tykn - the project that was designed to aid governments and NGO’s with their Identity Management Crisis /. This project spoke to my heart among many others in the cryptocurrency space and there are a couple of reasons for that.

There are lots of horrible things going on in our world today and the lives of people are being affected negatively. Children, families, adults and teenagers are constantly exposed to hardship just because some horrible circumstances pushed them away from their homes. It is a sad thing to leave home with no hope of ever returning. This means that your belongings, families, friends and all other social assets will become mere memories that you will forever wish you could re-live again. I was reading about the Syrian crisis that started back in 2011 and I came across a story of a young girl whose name is Alia; a story that melted my heart and strengthened my conviction about the necessity for more projects like Tykn. Let me give a brief summary of her story just as it is;

Alia’s Ordeal

Alia fled her home-town in Aleppo, Syria and at the moment she lives in Damour, Lebanon. The 7 year old shared her (heartbreaking) story with Gruppo Aleimar (Gruppos Aleimar is an Italian Non-Government Organization that provides free meals to refugees in the regions of Damour).

From her story, she stated that the last thing she remembers of Syria before she fled was the memory of when her mother was taking her from their home in Aleppo to her grandparents’ home. According to her, the road was full of dead bodies; some with vital parts of their bodies detached. “I was so shocked and I couldn’t stop crying”, she said to the reporters. Just to keep me calm, my grandfather told me that those dead people were wicked and cruel and that was why they died in such a horrible way. “I knew deep inside me that that wasn’t entirely true so I prayed for them because they were still human beings”, she said.

She explained further and said the following words and those words really touched spoke to my heart, “Back in Syria, I left a friend. Her name is Rou’a. I miss her so much and also miss walking down to school with her. Our favourite play-object (I and Rou’a) was my Atari but unfortunately, I couldn’t bring it with me. I also had some pigeons and one of them had eggs, now I’m worried about them and I can only hope that someone is taking care of them for me now. I miss my home so much and I hope that one day we’ll be back there with everything being just like they were before”.

Alia is just 7 years old, and there are other children out there with no evidence of where they are from other than the personal memories that may never be retrieved and will have no formal means of identifying themselves whenever the need arises.

Is anyone even doing something about this?

The simple answer is yes! A lot of NGO’s and governments have been of great help to these refugees but the help they offer is only limited since no one really sees war or violence coming before they finally occur. That is why projects like Tykn will play a very vital role regarding this. Using Tykn’s decentralized data collection mechanism and storage, parents can easily find their children or vice versa through a resilient identity mechanism.

Tykn aims to change the scenario described above using distributed-ledgers (blockchain technology) to develop identity, verification and trust services (eIDAS) instruments to aid both government and non-government organizations (NGO’s) that are concerned about issues regarding data protection and preservation. This is done in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that came to be on May 25 of this year. That puts Tykn in good standing with the latest regulatory policies regarding Identity Management. The Tykn project has an application – The Ana mobile App. This app will be used for verification and enrollment purposes. Information on any registered person (children or adult) can also be accessed by authorized parties at any point in time.

What does this mean?

This means that the Ana application will allow all authorized parties to look through the database to find the information of any individual registered on the Tykn platform. The platform also offers a blockchain-oriented tool for NGO’s to aid them in designing new birth certificates and at the same time registering them on distributed ledgers. These certificates will be 100% legal and fully backed by the government of that jurisdiction. This has been practised with the Dutch government and with the Red Cross 510 project and it worked perfectly.

What does Tykn need from communities

The only demand Tykn has so far is that leaders in various communities educate the members of their communities with events like; workshops, seminars and meetings. Tykn also demands that the processes involved should be carried out in such a way that reduces fraud risk, although the cutting-edge technology behind Tykn itself does a lot in dealing with risk and fraudulent activities.

You can be a part of a great revolution today. Remember Alia and there are thousands of children like Alia that needs infrastructures like this in place. They will at one point or the other need a legal means of identification to enjoy certain social benefits and if facilities like Tykn are not in place, these children will be constantly exposed to the risk of permanently losing their identities.

For a project to care more than neccesary in helping the less privilege by giving them an identity in a dirty world like this is so great.
Thanks to tykn, now we can be sure those unknown can now be known.
