Always back up your Google 2FA keys from each exchange
Dear steemit friends,
I am sure most of you already know about google authenticator apps ? But did you also have all the back up QR codes ?
I have the google authenticator installed in my phone but I realize I didn't keep the back up of the QR codes.
It means if my phone was stolen or if I reinstall the apps during that period , I will have lost the access to my exchange accounts.
What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?
Two-factor authentication (2FA), often referred to as two-step verification, is a security process in which the user provides two authentication factors to verify they are who they say they are.
Do I need this ?
Yes! If you have an account on any crpyotcurrency exchange like bittrex, bifinex, binance.
Although exchanges are not 100% secure , this is the the set up you should do to protect your account..
You can download easily to your mobile either IOS or Android for free.
How to add 2 FA on exchanges ( bittrex, bifinex, binance,kucoin etc)
This process has to be done via setting > Security > Enable Google Authenticator/ 2FA.
Every exchange has different display but you should be able to find on Setting option.
* Once you enable the 2 FA , it will then give you a QR Code and secret key.
* You will need to save the copy of QR code and the key
* This is the only way you can recover if you lost your phone, crash the apps etc
* After saving the QR code and key , you can then proceed to adding on your google authenticator apps
* To add, click on + sign, scan the bar code
* Then you would see the 6 number digits, register to that particular exchange.
If you already have 2FA enable, but didn't have back up like me
You would need to disable the 2 FA
And then enable again
It will give you a new QR code and secret key
Back up somewhere safe
Scan and register again in your phone

You need to use 2 FA to secure ur account .. it’s necessary! Can’t type again in Myanmar .. keep showing error .. if have students to learn, I will teach .. haha

အင္း bittrex ကေန steemit ကို ေနာ္ .. ေနာက္ အပတ္ computer မွာ screen ကို record လုပ္ၿပီးနင္လိုက္မယ္ ေနာ္.

သတင္းေကာင္းကေတာ့ binance မွာ steem ကို list ထည့္လိုက္ေတာ့ အနာဂါတ္မွာေရႊေရာင္ေတြျမင္ေနရပီဗ်ာ

So much is new to me, but after reading your post I am now wondering what best to do. I do hardly use my phone for anything other than calls and sms, weather and whathaveyou. Everything else is via my laptop on my desk. I receive verification codes from sites such as my hosting, finance, government, etc. So far I have never )I think) had need to use a Q thingy. More learning and exploration on the menu for me. Thank you for your post. I look forward to further learning.
Oh.. I totally understand I was the same .. but if I’m not wrong , 2FA is something u can’t avoid on crypto basic security. Thank you for reading my post.

Good advice. Many accounts can be saved from. hacking due to 2fa verification
