Sphere a New Decentralized Social Platform. Get Paid for Being You!
Social projects... IE projects where people get together and do great things for the benefit of those involved is not a new idea. :) Nor is the idea that someone might come along and create a social project the results of which line their own pockets, and not the pockets of their partners. :(

I'm sure that the VAST majority of people reading this post are Steemit users. While I would LOVE it if more people were just here to figure out what was going on... maybe they would even read some of my other posts and get interested in blockchain technology... maybe we would even gain another user of this beautiful technology... For the purposes of this article, it is probably best that most of you already know how the blockchain can be used beyond transferring money from one person to another.
If I sat here at my keyboard and tried to claim that Facebook was not an AMAZING website, I know you would all call me a liar. In my heart, I would have to admit that I was lying. However, there is a lot of validity to the claims that Facebook does a more damage than good when you look at the big picture. This article is not meant to cover that topic, or to debate whether or not Facebook is a good site or a bad site in the scheme of things. This article is mean to promote Sphere.social, and to help me acquire some SATs : ).
Facebook is covered with ADs. Over the years it has covered itself more and more thoroughly with them. The purpose of this is, of course, to make money for the corporation behind Facebook. They sell advertising space so that their investors, shareholders, employees, etc. can make money off of the platform. To be perfectly honest, they have every right to do so and are entitled to this money. I point this out because I want my readers to know that I think Facebook is a perfectly sound, and possibly even ethical company. I want you to know that I do not think that there is anything wrong with what they are doing in the slightest degree.
HOWEVER, I believe that there is a better way. If you are here reading this article, you probably know that Steemit has been absurdly successful at demonstrating one of these ways. Blockchain technology and the open ledger can be used to create a site that does not run on advertising space. People here are paid to write, and their readers are even incentivized to read their content. It's done so brilliantly that it even lends itself to improving said content, AND improving the payouts for that content. That's beautiful. It makes me think that someday people will log into their PS4, or XBOX accounts or even Steam (not Steemit) and be paid to test out or even play developers games... Developers who are being paid to develop as well. That's where we are headed I think, and I am happy with that.
Even more importantly, we have seen sites like Steemit and Dtube gain such popularity that we KNOW that the concept will only improve over time since improvement means the idea is getting better while the people who spend their time improving it in ANY way, (all the way down to people spouting ideas in the comments) are getting incentives based on their contribution size or even by how many people agree with their idea!
I know, I know, you have heard this all before. Some of it from me directly. So, on to the point... A shameless plug.

Sphere.social is, from the looks of it and it's description and from researching all that I can about it, a blockchain based social media platform. It is a platform that rewards users in SAT, Social Activity Tokens, for their activity on the platform. No more Facebook taking your data and selling it or using it in order to sell advertisements, or even just straight sell your data for $$$ to people that you did not choose to give it to.

Your data would be stored in an encrypted format on the blockchain in a public ledger. So you will be able to choose with whom and when you allow your data to be shared, with no secret behind the scenes action going on. Further, YOU will be the one getting paid for the sharing of your information, not some centralized company who runs the platform. The users of the platform will be the ones running the platform via nodes which are basically wallets that run on your home PC or laptop or work computer or whatever.

Further, you will be able to use the SAT directly at any store where Visa is accepted. Just think on it. You post a great meme and get 35,000 likes over night. The next day you get to take all your friends out to dinner with the funds you acquired through your hard work. Funds that the platform earned because of YOU and therefore YOU got paid. What you do with the money is your own, but I like to think of how much offline social activity will be fueled by the online social activity of sphere.
Now I know what a lot of people will think when they read this article. "Yeah right, how many people have tried to take down Facebook in the past and failed?" Just consider though, that this is not some other company that is trying to take down Facebook. It's just a piece of software that is designed to help people make their own money off their own work, doing things that they already do. There is no mastermind behind it, just a tool that will allow people to take back the social media they love so dearly... But only if we collectively choose to do so!
That's why I wrote this article... That and the fact that I want some of the free SAT. Just keep in mind that I have now put in the work, and if just one of your decides to check it out, then I will be getting paid for doing my work. Not Facebook, not Steemit, not even Sphere. Me, the author of this piece that I have posted on social media. I invite you all to seriously think on that. Let it soak in for a moment. It's amazing.
