All these people in different regions of the world have one thing in common: Uncertainty. This naturally follows, where poverty goes.
Their stories could be different, if they had a means of livelihood, or something to act as a support to whatever comes in, irrespective of how little it is.
Effect.AI’s Mechanical Turk has the power to be a solution to poverty, seeing that it is a decentralized platform, where Workers complete Human Intelligent Tasks (HIT) uploaded by Requesters. On completion of these tasks as requested, they are paid a fair remuneration for their efforts, quickly. These payments are made in the form of EFX tokens, which is used solely on the platform. These can be converted to other cryptos and exchanged for local currencies.
Being decentralized ensures that there is more money in their pockets for successfully completed tasks.
Bots, smart cars, smart homes, smart watches, smart phones. They might be “smart”, but human input is still needed to get them to function as expected. These human input is what is referred to as HIT in the previous paragraph, and this is what brings companies seeking Workers to perform specific tasks to the platform.

Using a very basic example; when a self -driving car company is in production, humans are needed to annotate thousands of images and classify data-satellite images/aerial photography annotation, advanced object recognition, and detailed landmarking are some of such tasks. in basic terms, routes need to be identified, traffic lights need to be obeyed. Objects need to be identified, so that these AI systems can use this data to make the right choices.
From time to time, this data is reviewed, and improvement would need to be implemented. This ensures that companies would keep on coming back to get the data they need from Workers, and Workers will also become returning customers, seeing they are being paid a fair wage, and they are able to make a living off the marketplace.

**CONCLUSION** Could people (in some cases) be trained to use this platform to change their stories? I really think so, and I would love to see that happen in different places around the globe, sooner rather than later.
It might not be the focus of Effect.AI, but we are at a point where we can kill two birds with one stone. Poverty is a scourge, and we must use every tool in our possession to kick it out of the world.
