Firmware 1.4.1 update

For anyone who owns a Leger Nano S, today is an important day, a new firmware update has been released which brings one really cool new feature to the Nano S, as well as a security fix (plus some other stuff... read the blog post for all the detail :)

Official announcement on the Ledger website blog:

Wallet Power Up! (up to 18 wallets at once)

One of my main gripes with the Ledger Nano S was the need to install/uninstall different wallets in order to view your coins. The Nano could only hold around four or five wallets at any given time, and whilst you could use the Nano to store coins for all the wallets supported, in order to use more than five wallets, you would have to uninstall one wallet, and then install another wallet in order to view your account for a different coin. Annoying!

Ledger are now claiming that you can store up to 18 wallets at any given one time on your Leger Nano S! Brilliant! They have listened to their users, well done Ledger, top marks.

Security update

I've read a lot of bad news online recently about the security risk that the Nano S has been exposed to... However, I have confidence in the Ledger team, and their thoughts on this are as follows (and i quote):

Important note: there are some claims on Reddit and Twitter about a critical security issue being found on the Nano S. This is incorrect. The issues found are serious (that’s why we will forcing the update after a two weeks grace period), but NOT critical. Funds have not been at risk, and there was no demonstration of any attack on our devices. We will disclose all technical details after March 20th.

I'm not going to reinvent the wheel in this post and show you how to update to firmware 1.4.1, but instead, simply link to the Ledger guide on their website (this is a very straight forward guide with plenty of screen shots, please just take your time when doing this, and, if you are in any doubt, i recommend you contact the Ledger support team for help):

Great guide, so much noise with the security FUD.

Thank you! After a bit of FUD myself today (mainly reading through Twitter) i decided to look in to things for myself... I'm confident of the Ledger team, i think they have a great product/s, good road map, and with the recent $75m funding, i'm expecting good things to come. The fact that they have listened to their users and increased the wallet capacity on the Nano S is simply fantastic! And obviously the security fix is a big deal, and they have addressed it quickly, and provided a very easy to follow guide in order to update to firmware 1.4.1 (i've just completed the update myself tonight, and it was really easy / smooth process). Thanks :)

I was not expecting a great answer of this kind, thank you so much to give your insight and experience with the upgrade.
