I think you may mean STATUS. I also ran into this problem. I tried with both BAT and STATUS and nothing on either. This really does show a scaling problem with ethereum IMO. In a global market, there will be this many transactions all the time, not just during ICOs.
And I agree with you completely about the scaling issue.
