I mocked crypto in 2011, embraced it in 2012, now I'm making my own!
Welcome to the 87th weekly installment of my series on Steem income and growth!
Income on the Steem blockchain is generated by "investment" (the more currency you have, the more you earn) and by "work" (earning currency by contributing content that adds value). All my crypto holdings are in the STEEM currency. Now I'm working to earn more, by uploading unique valuable content to the blockchain.
Calculating weekly income

It was another strong week, following a couple others like it, thanks to 3Speak income. Their upvotes have been less often lately, and much smaller, but they're certainly appreciated. My other content has also been doing fairly well, thanks to regular posting and consistent quality. The 10 week running average crept up to 1.34%, after bottoming at 1% a few weeks ago.
Of the 35 STEEM (on average) we bring in weekly, only about 4 STEEM (on average) comes from curation. Apparently we're only generating about 1 STEEM weekly per 1000 SP. The vaaaast majority of my income comes from post payouts - curation is barely a factor. Until I have a lot more SP, I should continue to focus on content-creation (despite how devalued it is post HF21).
Note: As mentioned before, MediKatie and I are phasing out use of all our team accounts except GirlsofGreen. One was dropped from the tally this week, and another will be dropped for each of the next 3 weeks. They have almost no SP and won't even be noticed anyway.
If my team's funds were in a single account, it would be the 3950th richest. We're moving up about 50 positions per week against the rest of the pack. In terms of rep, I'm #2245.
Making my own crypto
I mocked tokens (like the Beer, Shit, and Drama tokens I've seen everywhere all year) when they first showed up. I'm definitely starting to see the potential, as they function as cryptos (captured on the Steem chain, but otherwise the same). They have most of the benefits of cryptos, which are many.
I believe there's a way for almost anyone to pony up 100 STEEM and get started with their own token currency, and it's really appealing to me. I need to find out if I'm technical enough to handle the job, though. I'm strong in monetary theory, good in business, decent with desktop computers and the internet, but weak in programming and design. If I need to code anything beyond the very basic, I'll need help. If anyone has any advice for me here, I'd appreciate it!
As for the 100 STEEM to get in, remember last week when I said I'd "found" 200 STEEM and couldn't figure out where it came from? I still can't figure it out. And nobody came forward to claim it (other than jokingly, of course). When I tallied things up this week, there still appears to be a wad of money I'm not expecting. And yet, there's no sign of where it came from, and nobody else has any clue, so I must have made some kind of error in my calculations. Which doesn't strike me as the real explanation, since I've run them over and over from every angle. I've been doing this 87 weeks and never had this experience!
Anyway, I'm setting aside 100 STEEM for my adventure into making a crypto. Good use for it, I figure! And I've donated the other 100 to Mission Agua Possible, to try and get us up to 25% complete, which should bring renewed interest and help it get finished.
What do you think about tokens? Any suggestions on the settings I should select? How it should be distributed, what should give it value, and so on? I have my own ideas brewing, but I'd certainly love to hear more!

Wow, was that 2011? Feels like so recent yet so far away. Cryptos were the dawn of a new era it was weird getting used to the idea at first, especially being a silver bug. Remember that song that came out like 2 years after 2011 with the lyric way back in 2011 and we laughed? Damn now it is way back.

That's actually a pretty cool idea.
As for distribution, could it be done (in part) by holders of the tokens? For example, kinda like the comment coin one, which gives commenters 1 token each time they comment on a post written by a holder of at least 10 tokens. A variation on that?
They let you select how many decimal places. Maybe 3? Or even 0.
Nice donating 100 of that Steem to the Aqua possible. Sorry no ideas about how to setup your new crypto.
