Mannabase is the worlds first universal basic income token. Formerly known as Grantcoin but recently relaunched as Manna. It's the only cryptocurrency that is actually registered as non profit organization with a tax exempt status from the U.S. goverment.
What really exites me about the project is you can donate to anyone in the world. You can even choose specific interests or regions. As an example I could donate to African jewelers or Indian farmers. Anyone in the world can sign up and get a distribution of the free cryptocurrency. Right now it's valued at around $.01 U.S.D. per coin. It seems like a very interesting idea that may catch on more in the future. The transactions take a minute or two to transfer on their blockchain and cost only a fraction of a cent. The next distribution of free tokens is in six days, so sign up now, if this interests you. How is this project going to work as a nonprofit and as an investment? That's going to be interesting. Any ideas on it?
I honestly don't even want to speculate it's potential as an investment. I'm very new to the crypto world but I figure I'll hold it until I find someone worthy to donate it to, that is less fortunate.
I think it will fail but there could be some benefactors who will back it up. Hopefully I can get some steem or sbd with my manna coins. I agree with @dirtyhippie though and will try and pay this forward someday. I do think manna has more of a shot at sticking around than a lot of the 1,000 plus other cryptos though.
Be interesting to see how it all plays out. The fact that the goverment gave them tax exempt non profit status might draw in a croud that would otherwise be weary. Ultimately the market will decide if it has value or not.
It will definitely have some value if they can get donations. If it stays the main non profit or only non-profit coin it could pick up some big funders.
That's what I was thinking myself. Hopefully it catches on.
