Jaxx wallet disappointment - still no BCH, unable to ShapeShift to ICN

in #crypto7 years ago

Hey guys, I had high hopes for the Jaxx wallet (despite warnings about them being hacked a few months ago, I've been assured the Android version is relatively safe.)

However, the two main reasons I set up Jaxx were 1. So that I would easily buy ICN by ShapeShift either BTC or ETH to ICN using the ShapeShift function. This is because Kraken doesn't allow me to buy. And 2. because Jaxx supported Bitcoin Cash and assured me that if I moved my BTC to Jaxx before the fork I could access my BCH.

Now it's 8/7 and there is still no BCH wallet on Jaxx and no sign of where my BCH coins are. Their last update was many days ago. This does not bode well for my confidence in this product.

The other thing is, I am able to ShapeShift any coin to any other coin EXCEPT ICN. ICN is down right now and presents a good buying opportunity. I already tried to ShapeShift my BTC into ICN a couple of days ago and it won't work. The ShapeShift button is supposed to turn bright blue when it's ready and able to work. If you pick ICN it doesn't work. So other people on Reddit are having the same issue and there's been some discussion there about how to solve this. One thing they said was that a conversion from BTC to ICN requires a bit of ETH for "gas" to power the transaction (anyone care to explain "gas" to me?) So I decided to convert my BTC to ETH on Jaxx and that way there will be plenty of ETH to do the transaction to ICN. Nope. I tried converting ETH to ICN yesterday and today and it's still not working.

This just isn't going to work. If the one thing I got the Jaxx wallet to do isn't working at the critical time when ICN is cheap then its usefulness is nearly nil to me. And still being without my BCH after all this time is super annoying. I mean the the good thing is BCH didn't just keep falling off a cliff and now it actually seems to be bouncing. But what if I had wanted my BCH right away?

I too am very disappointed with the Jaxx wallet BCH update. It's been over three weeks and no news. WTF?
If they could have got it done in two weeks like they projected, I could have traded my BCH for ETH when BCH was near $900.
But now BCH has lost about 30% of its value, which means I've lost 30% of the ETH I could have gotten.
Is Jaxx going to compensate me?
Why should I use them?
Exodus sounds like they know what they are doing. I just hate depending on others who don't care how they affect others.

Hey, I got my BCH out of Jaxx Sunday by transferring my seeds to Electroncash, ShapeShifting them to BTC and transferring them to a more secure wallet.

I posted about it in a follow up:

I read a simple explanation of what to do and followed it:

  1. Download the Electron Cash wallet from http://electroncash.org.
  2. Install the wallet, create a password, login.
  3. Click on the tab called Wallet, go to Private keys, then Sweep
  4. Then I entered my private keys from my Jaxx wallet where I had originally held Bitcoin during the fork.
  5. Amazingly, the default wallet appeared with the two batches of Bitcoin Cash that corresponded to my first two Bitcoin purchases before the fork. Again, like magic.

I decided I would just ShapeShift my BCH directly out of this wallet into Bitcoin, and then send the Bitcoin to a secure wallet.

But yeah I agree about Jaxx. I kept watching BCH rise and I got more and more pissed off. I was able to sell for $775, not the peak, but I was happy. I think it will rebound though so if you get your BCH out now you'll have another opportunity to sell at a premium. There's a massive uptick in interest in BCH.

Thank you for the interview. Everyone can judge the jaxx wallet. its function and service. Great review. Have a nice day my friend.

Thank you !

You are welcome

I recommend to use Exodus Wallet, It's the best Wallet around. you can get it following the link
https://www.exodus.io/releases/

I am leaning very strongly towards Exodus, plus an offline wallet

offline with backup possibility, plus large altcoin support.

Nice post my friend....

And I still have not been able to get my Bitpay card. I sent them the fee they asked for and they returned it saying it's more than needed? I used their QR code?

I'm afraid I don't know anything about it. Have they not answered you?
