Litecoin has always be considered as bitcoins silver if bitcoin was gold. While that vision seems to be far away now litecoin is making a number of advancements that could push it into all new levels perhaps becoming the new GOLD standard. Lets take a closer look at the major headlines for Litecoin as of late.
🔨 Litecoin Core 0.15 has been release
As of 2-7-2018 Litecoins core got a update. Core features of litecoin have almost always been the exact same as bitcoins as creator Charlee Lee simply took bitcoins core code and tweaked the block time and mining algorithms.
However now that Litecoin is in the spotlight and withe a massive percent increase that dwarfs bitcoins increase last year litecoin now looks to make their chain unique and move towards your day to day trading use.
So how close are bitcoin and litecoin ?
Nearly identical so much so that litecoin is more comparable to it then bitcoin cash! Bitcoin cash does not support Segregated Witness upgrade while litecoin does. (you know those pesky replay attacks)
However litecoins core is now moving to allow for advancements in the blockchain which should improve its ability to adapt to demands and allow for quicker smaller transactions without large fees to be used in everyday buying and selling.

🍴 One Very Shady Hard Fork
As Charlee Lee States on Twitter LITECOIN IS NOT!!! I REPEAT IS NOT forking the chain. This is someone else trying to do so to create confusion. The fork that is set to happen on Feb 18th 2018 is called Litecoin Cash with a ratio of 10:1 10 LCC coins for each Litecoin you have.
Just like when bitcoin gained massive traction and every fork known to humankind came out of the woodwork so too is now happening with litecoin. While these forks seem like they are good ideas and Yay free coins what it really does is cause confusion, slow progress and actually take money away from the real coins value in this case Litecoin. Don't expect this one to be very supported other then a money grab.
What really makes this hard fork shady is asking you to give up your private keys to claim it. UH yeah not about to risk that just so you know if someone has your private key they HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR LITECOINS!
Tell me no one is seriously giving up their private keys for this scam?😱😂
I'm sure it will be all those "Investors" who bought in on Jan. 7th and sold on Feb. 5th

Wish I had held on to some o my LTC before I trded in for NEO.
I may have to swap back a few dozen to LTC. I like everything you outlined here and as for the coin it'self, I always thought Charlie "@sotishilite" was a very ethical person.
That helps me form a trust in the coin and the dev group. I wonder if the LCC gourp will have the same level of ethincs as it forks LTC? I guess I am going to find out.

you should of made out pretty good on NEO ? But yeah I have a really hard time trading in my litecoin for other coins lol
I bought LTC specifically to trade into alt coins.... and then asked myself why.... in the end I held my initial investment and opted to ride out the alt coin craze. I think Litecoin has a solid development team and will continue to innovate as a coin that is meant for commerce rather than a store of value.
I love free coins...I no love giving up my key.

I am a huge Charlie Lee fan...LTC is still my 3rd largest holding behind BTS and STEEM.
I think LTC will be a player for years to come in the crypto world. Lee mentioned implementing the "vault" system into the blockchain which would provide built in security for the tokens. This is needed for mass adoption.
One question: what are they requiring to get free tokens? I have my LTC offline....like with BTC, does that negate getting the tokens?

Litecoin does seem like a good stable bet to get in on as it continues to advance and adapt to the changes going on in the crypto world. Bitcoin not so much and really 100% is relying on lightning network if that fails to not play out bitcoins going to be really hurting I think if it does pan out though then bitcoin for sure will be the gold standard just because of its name it has the iconic value over any other crypto. ETH continues to make changes and advance as well if a coin does that then it for sure holds a place in the future.
I'm HODLing my LTC (got for ~$30), NEO (got for ~$6) and OMG (got for ~$0.50) like crazy. All 3 of those cryptos are going to be cementing themselves in the top tier throughout this year with major announcements, partnerships, releases, use-cases, and more. We honestly ain't seen nothing yet...

Charlie Lee warned against the LTC Cash fork stating its a scam so I would be VERY hesitant to give up your private keys to get your LTC Cash... Just be careful.

at the moment LCC which will be litecoin cash forking on the 18th of FEB is asking for private keys. It is highly recommended not to do so otherwise your giving access to them to your wallet. It is a non supported fork and I don't think many places will be offering support for it any time soon.
Yeah I can imagine that there will be a ramp up of LiteCoin purchases based on people not wanting to miss out on the airdrop.
