Bitcoin Cash is getting serious traction now. I think the LN is interesting, but I'm not sure how many people will be willing to lock up funds in these payment channels, or if there will be enough hubs to route payments globally.

LN will take time to establish itself on the mainnet, and there are already other cryptos like LTC that are being used for day-to-day need due to speed of confirmations and lower fees.
