CanYa - The Gig Economy just joined the Ethereum BlockChain
Bearded Hipster Couriers
I live in the Hipster laden, Artisan Food filled, Borough of Hackney in East London and I know lots of self employed people. They are often multi-skilled professionals who enjoy being in control of their own diaries and income, instead of being tied to a 9 to 5 desk job. The courier is a bike mechanic and my friend who is a carpenter Ultrahikes with a Splitboard in Poland all winter. I know a freelance Gardener, several Web Designers, Photographers, Animators, Couriers, a Brewer and a Mural Artist. His murals are sought after by restaurants, hotels and retailers all over the world. There are also hundreds of Dogwalkers, Childminders and Yoga Instructors congregating around the ever trendy Broadway Market and London Fields.

BlockChain Visualiser
I even do a bit of Gigging myself. I run my own Animation Company and also work as a Business Mentor for start up Creative Sector companies. I've recently added Crypto Writer & BlockChain Visualiser to my resume. (Technically speaking, BlockChain Visualiser isn't listed anywhere yet,) but I am busy pioneering it. I just finished working with Crypto platform E.C.S.A helping develop a visual language, (which is more than dots joined by lines, forming tessellated shapes). Sound familiar ? BlockChain is a passion and I have 15 years experience to add to the young Crypto Sector; turning complex technical information into engaging visually driven narratives.

The Freelancers Challenge
Most freelancers get work by word of mouth. Reputation is everything. This can leave perilously empty slots in their calendars and they sometimes run the risk of receiving late or incomplete payment in cash by clients. Agencies can provide steady work for some self employed people, but they often take 20-30% or more in commission from your fee.
Anyone Know a... Cowboy ?
Where do you find a reputable cleaner, gardener, cat sitter or an electrician you can trust? Rated, accountable and easy to book . If there was a system which would connect the dots from local (trusted) service providers to potential clients looking to get stuff done that would be really useful. It would need an app to run it. It would have trust ratings and be really easy to use. CanYa is the BlockChain answer that employment has been waiting for. It can be a tricky game when you are your own Boss and CanYa makes it that whole load easier to manage whether you're looking for a job or looking to get one done.
- It's low cost
- It's transparent
- It's largely automated with smart contracts.
Entering the BlockChain CanYa. ? Yes I Can
CanYa was set up in 2015, they are not an empty promise. They already have 8,000 members and 4,000 service providers. It's a no-brainer for them to now join the Ethereum BlockChain and their ICO is currently underway, with a promising start.
ERC20 compliance
means they can introduce trustless smart contracts, eradicating the need for third party input. This also means they can lower their transaction fees and because they have their own token the platform provides a way to turn all digital currencies into usable service provision. That's a Crypto Big Idea, right there. This was part of the founders original vision for the service. The token also provides incentives for members and for token hodlers to invest into the success of the platform. There could easily be 100,000 providers and members by early 2018. As they roll out across the world there could be millions of members and providers in the not too distant future. Anyone know a Gourmet Chef for my dinner party? Freelance Rocket Scientists Required for Mission to Mars...
CanYa is a peer-to-peer platform for people to choose & interact directly with service providers of a wide range of in demand skillsets, who will be providing the service instead of a third-party. Canya runs on Ethereum with smart contracts enabling the platform to run a trustless, secure and fast payment service. Paraphrased from The Whitepaper
I'm A CanYa Provider
I found out about CanYa recently and just set up a CanYa providers account on my Android phone. It was really easy. It finds your location. (Smart phone, smart app). I entered my photo, copy of my driving license, set my available times, the services I offer, a short Bio and the all important hourly rate. I am now a CanYa provider. I even earned a total of 650 points for filling in my complete profile. My motto is "If you're going to do something, do it properly". You can find me on CanYa. I'll be using my online moniker; Outerground. BlockChain Visualising, Branding & Animation filmmaking consultancy, need an article writing ? try it out.

FREE merchandise like hardware wallets and minted coins, plus free tickets to the annual conference (& party). The founders want to encourage the token hodlers to become part of a community and not just cash them in straight after the ICO. To ensure it's value, they will also be burning a proportion of the tokens.

I was searching everywhere for how many users they had, but I couldn't seem to find it. I considered downloading the app as well, but I thought it'd be Australia only right now for some reason.. Nice write up! First as usual I see. xD haha
I think if you're in the US, you might have some restrictions on what's available to read. I just read your article. very well done michelle. I like your comparison to uber. I was going to mention it, then thought about the negative publicity they'd had and decided against it. you made some excellent points about fees, decision making and choice.. Best of Luck with the judging, your article have a very good flow. Arch Nemesis. You're like the Joker to my Batman.. or the other way around !
I've been reading a bit about Uber as well (Not really anything good). If CanYa can present themselves as a better paying alternative then I think that there's a lot of people in that sector who will join up. A lot of them are feeling stepped on by these bigger companies charging them hefty fees and cutting their pay. It's a great crypto project, and I hope they find success in other countries like the US soon.
I'm not sure the uber and deliveroo drivers can make the switch to CanYa quite so easy as other self employed people can. I think the hourly paid, regular S/E people like childminders, gardeners, tradespeople who take a decent minimum fee per job will do really well. 1 x $100 job for an electrician is perhaps $10 x $10 rides for a cab and 20 x $5 for a deliveroo and they both rely on a system to give them a regular flow of small jobs on any given "shift" pattern they choose to work.
