Will Bitcoin Ever Be REAL Money?

Today's Crypto Digest is interesting, but short. While there may not be any crying in baseball, there will likely be crying over some Bitcoin if the prediction of the Bank of International Settlements comes true. Of course, I'm banking that it won't. You'll see why in a crypto-picking minute.

Speaking of baseball, my oldest grandson, 15 years old, has four baseball games this week. The first one was last night. There's another one tonight. This has me crying.

Crypto News

In a classic comeback, the crypto market hit a spring and bounced upward $12 billion. And within the space of 24 hours. I'm not convinced this is a turn around. It's like a market correction that will see more declines before heading back up by the end of the year. But who am I? Just some crypto dude with a keypad.

Speaking of crypto dudes, a #Coinbase executive opened his mouth. It turns out the crypto exchange is prioritizing the addition of other digital assets. I would certainly hope so!

Now, we can talk about open mouths all day long, just so long as people don't go sticking feet in them. Mostly because feet don't belong in mouths, but it's your anatomy!

As it turns out, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) released a report and said that cryptocurrencies will never replace fiat money. Okay, they're entitled to their e-pinion, but I take issue with their definition of real money. While the story is an awesome read, currency does not have to be stable to be real currency. That's a FUD, and it's expected of central bankers. Of course, who doesn't want their medium of exchange to be stable? We all do, I'm sure. I'm just saying that's not the test for what makes money. What is the test? Two parts: Does it hold value, and can you use it for trade? I think crypto passes the test.

Finally, word has it that #Binance will launch its decentralized exchange "soon", but expect it to be laissez faire. Or is that lazy fairy?

Crypto Analysis

One of the best #crypto reads of the day is this awesome look at some new top 35 cryptocurrencies getting a listing on crypto exchanges. It shows which coins are getting listed on which exchanges and how it's impacting their prices.

If you're a sucker for technicals (and who isn't?), then you'll love this look at Bitcoin and #Litecoin. The analyst says it shows the two coins are headed to lower prices.

CoinFrenzy claims to know the real reason crypto people are receptive to #Ripple and Binance funding. And I thought it was because they wanted money.

This analyst shows how #Ethereum has at least 24 technical barriers clustered within a $30 range. Good golly! And I just thought she needed to weed her garden.

Finally, bringing up the rear, because that's truly where they belong, it's the BIS again. They're saying ICOs should be regulated like IPOs. And that's actually not an unpopular opinion. Too bad this isn't baseball.

These, and plenty more, are stories featured in today's edition of Blockchain Times where I serve as #editor. I receive no compensation for mentioning the companies in this post. I just get the personal satisfaction of knowing I spent my time ignoring my business.

I'm still a crypton00b, but I actually understood and enjoyed your post, @blockurator! And it gives me hope that if I just HODL on, someday I'll have some "real" money in my Steemit wallet. 😊

Traci, nothing wrong with being n00b. You've got a great attitude. HODL on to your wallet and don't spend all that crypto in one place. Keep on a keepin' on. Steemit is your long-term friend.

Thanks for reading.
