Samuel and the last known forest

Once upon a time there was a young man named Samuel Leider who lived in a village where injustice and poverty reigned supreme, but in spite of that he possessed a great gift: inner peace. He dreamed of being a swordsman, he devoted himself to learning techniques to achieve his purpose and so several years passed. The young man gained fame in the village, participated in several combats and always won.

One day Samuel undertook his adventure in the last known forest, to which nobody wanted to go, it is said that there inhabit the four generals; each one is a monster with special powers and when he finishes with them, peace, health and abundance will return in his people.

Tired already of so much walking, he sees a dark path in the middle of the sunset and decides to follow it because it is the only strange thing he has seen so far, after a long time he observes that in the distance a little light shines, he goes there, it is a house and in its entrance there is a small cage with a fairy that radiates light, when he opens the main door of the cabin all that space is lit, a table is in the background and in this one there is a note and a ring.

When he put on the ring he adjusted himself to his finger, immediately the first General appears: he is a green monster, muscular, enormous, his nose is a horn, his mouth is very big with triangular teeth, his hands like a lizard, his ears pointy, and his feet like a deer, he had a crown and his elemental power is that of the Earth.

The battle began, Samuel still ignored the acquired power, when he draws his sword, this radiates so much light that he is astonished, he thought that could not defeat it by the great force of his opponent, so he decided not to attack to find his weak point, he dodged for a while with the sole idea of studying his opponent, and realizes that the General is not as agile as he seems, in addition he has a mark on his chest, a scar that apparently still hurts him, so he decided to attack him directly there using all the power of his ring; Once defeated, the great monster begins to fragment and disappears, dropping his ring to the floor; Samuel puts on the ring, frees the fairy who is in the entrance and leaves.

In search of food he walks for a long time, suddenly he hears the sound of the water and goes there, when he arrives he finds it strange to see an old man crouched down drinking water, in the middle of nowhere, his beard was long and greyish, his cozy and reliable look, when he sees the young man he greets him and tells him to come closer.

“Dear young man, I know what brought you to the forest, listen carefully: water is the door to your conquest, submerge your body and mind, let yourself be carried, use what is around you.”

The old man points to the water, when Samuel turns to ask him some questions, the old man is gone. Samuel takes the necessary water and remains contemplating the place, then he decides to submerge himself in the water, closes his eyes and allows himself to be taken mentally by the immense tranquillity that reigns in that place, after a while, as if he had awakened from a dream, he opens his eyes, and lies in another place, a space where cold reigns and snow is an ornament everywhere, he observes and suddenly sees a figure approaching that presumes to be the second General.

The second General: he is an ice monster, with gray and exorbitant eyes, in each cheek he has some openings like gills to breathe, his tongue is long like that of a lizard, his voice is a sound like a whale, in the head he has an ice crown, and his elemental power is that of Water - Ice.

Samuel is armed with courage, remembers his people in the dark and without exit, and begins the fight, the General has amazing skills, can throw ice in any way he wants, in addition to slide everywhere with ease, he gets nervous before such opponent, however always acts using a strategy to help him emerge victorious, with the sword of light can cut and melt the opponent, but this is very agile. After a time of dodging and maneuvering so as not to get hurt, he feels very tired, he remembers the words of the old man:

"submerge your body and mind, let yourself go, use what is around you"

He observes with calm and extreme attention, suddenly he notices something in front of his eyes, a big and leafy tree covered with snow, his privileged mind quickly plans his decisive combat, runs and stops in front of the tree, beckoning the enemy to come for him, when he is very close he uses his most recent power, and paralyzes him by trapping his lower extremities in the earth,Throws earth into the eyes of his enemy, and takes advantage to cut off his head with the sword. The General melts completely and drops the ring to the ground, Samuel puts it on and fits his finger.

Samuel sits down, rests on the tree that allowed him to save his life, he needs to rest, it has been a fierce struggle; he fell asleep, tiredness is greater than cold. When he wakes up he is next to the well where he had submerged himself, he is startled and thinks that it has been a dream, he immediately looks at his hand and sees his new ring.

He continues his search in the forest, suddenly it begins to rain, he enters an empty cave and makes a bonfire to stay warm, thinks many things, sees the rain fall and remembers the skills of the second General, and begins to test the last power acquired and feels great, manipulate the water and even turn it into ice and give it the shape he wants makes, him feel powerful. It stopped raining but he prefers to spend the night there and continue his adventure the next day. In the middle of the night he wakes up warm and observes that the fire of the campfire has grown exponentially, perhaps instinct, but he immediately stands up, he feels observed.

"Who's there?"

His eyes could not believe what they saw, the presence he felt became tangible, a true monster that would terrify anyone, his presence was infernal. He assumed that he was the third General

The third General: he is a very large monster with dragon's wings and tail, he has two horns on his head, two protruding tusks in his mouth, with some pulls on his legs, and his feet have the shape of a bull's foot, he is reddish in colour, he spreads pure heat and his elemental power is that of Fire.

The night promises to be long, such a giant will not be easy to defeat, the young rival manages to avoid the strong but slow attack of his opponent, so the monster turns around and wounds him with the tail; Samulletto was burning, and ran as fast as he could until outside the cave, where there was a little water and using his new power extinguishes the flames he had, the great monster spits fire gusts out of his mouth, the young man throws big stones at him with his power, and manages to deflect the flames of fire. Samuel realizes that he could climb up to the head of the giant, so he would have to find a way to do it; while thinking, he dodged the flames, suddenly he runs as fast as he can and climbs up the monster's tail, the General reacts and begins to fly, and to spit out great flames; Samuel is dodging the flames as he moves towards the head of the "dragon", the monster begins to do pirouettes in the air for the young man to fall, burying his sword to his opponent not to fall, hurts him, however he can not reach his goal, he drops to use his powers from below, Samuel reacts quickly and controls the water that was nearby to create "a mattress" to protect him from the fall, the monster was plummeting; Samuel used his water power and extinguished the flames from his enemy's tail and then froze it, and without hesitation broke it into many pieces; the General is seriously wounded and immobile, and the young swordsman can get close enough to the monster while dodging the bursts of fire, so with his Earth power he buries the body of the monster, to suffocate it, and then obtains the ring of the power of Fire.

Without having rested all night, he lies down on the ground and sleeps deeply, around him began to fly fairies, looked like butterflies, fluttered ceaselessly and spread a powder frosted above him, it was magical. He has awoken in a hut of warm colours, and it was the fairy who had liberated , and speaks to him in a language he does not understand, she indicated with her hand that he close his eyes and he did it, he remembered again the old man, suddenly he heard a voice in a very low tone, he opened his eyes and it was the fairy who spoke to him.

"We are not allowed to talk to humans, but still would not understand me, instead you have the power of light, you can see the light in the dark, connect with spirituality and know what you want from others, stay here and rest all you need"

Samuel sees her go and reflects, then gets up and makes a small inspection, finds a table a lot of food and begins to eat like a desperate man, wonders how long he had there; suddenly he thought he "saw" himself walking on the outside of the cabin and close his eyes believing that it is a product of his imagination, and continues satiating his hunger, then puts on his boots to leave. As he leaves the cabin and practically in front of him, he sees a young man identical to him, except for his look and smile, they seem evil and twisted, so he assumes that he is the fourth and last General.

The fourth and last General: Less strong, less dark, but perhaps more dangerous, his appearance is similar to his opponent, is the dark side of his enemy, shows the strengths of the evil that has the other. He acts as a shadow, stealthy, slippery, as if levitating, and rejoices in cruelty.

Samuel remains waiting for the attack, as he does nothing, prefers to begin the inevitable, seeks to ambush him with a whirlpool of earth, greater surprise, when he turns is at his side with a macabre smile, by the proximity tries to attack him with his sword but the evil opponent attacks him in the same way and with greater intensity, moves so quickly!, the young swordsman is wounded, however his will is superior and launches bursts of fire, but the young man receives the same attack with greater force. Samuel realizes that attacking him is useless since he will receive the same from his opponent, since he has that power. The young man continues attacking, with the idea of gaining time while he comes up with a way to defeat this matchless rival, suddenly remembers the words that the fairy said:

“you have the power of light, you can see light in the dark, connect to spirituality and know what you want from others”

has found a somewhat risky path, decides to put it into practice in spite of it, because he can think of no other solution; he throws a whip of water to approach the General, and the attack is reciprocated in the same way, and even Samuel is the weaker of the two and the General approaches him first, the young man takes advantage of the proximity and holds the evil one so tightly by placing the ring of light on his finger, almost instantaneously the general begins to tremble and begins to see a light in the darkness of his body, so much so that it was transformed into a light, which, little by little, was disappearing, and the two rings fell on the ground. Samuel put them on and left.

He begins the journey back to his village, the forest has changed, wonderful things are observed: animals everywhere and approached him without fear, butterflies in quantities, trees full of fruits, the water sources were more flooded, the land was more fertile, he saw new plants where before there was nothing, he would dare to say that the oxygen was purer. His return was quite an experience. The forest was another, and he imagined the people of the village enjoying themselves there, and now without fear they could take care of the last remaining forest.

When he arrived in his village he thought he had made a mistake and he was in the land of fairies, there was abundance, life in plants, fruits in trees, roads enjoyed beautiful flowers, it was felt that there was light everywhere. He accelerated his step to see his family, everyone looked so healthy, even the people of the village; they were happy. He realized that it was worthwhile to face such monsters; and when night came he thought of how he could protect the rings, and he resolved by using, like many times, his wisdom.

I wrote this story inspired by my seven-year-old son Samuel, who shows me day by day that imagination has no limits. With this story I am participating in the challenge of Tell A Story To Me - The Last Forest; of @bananafish people
