Creative gifts

Creative gifts are a great way to teach kids creative skills - and they provide lasting memories and something special to keep for the future.

My daughter and I have given my wife (her mother) some pretty creative gifts in the past. The photo above is from a book we made her, the pictures of which were of our daughter and her toys, set out according to the plot of the story.

For example, in the above picture the magic cow is crying because she has no friends...

This is from the first of two books written using the same characters - the first, done when our daughter was just 4 years old, was pretty simple: the plot, the scenes, the photos.

The second book (written when our daughter was 6) was much more complicated - the plot involved multiple scenes and characters and the demands of acting took their toll on our daughter, and her toys 😊

This photo is from the second book, and it shows the adventurers on their quest through a magical and hostile land.

We have also written and recorded a number of songs:

*A Christmas carol; and
*A song for mother's day

Plus we are in the process (spoiler alert my darling if you read this!) of writing and recording the backing tracks for another song for my wife to sing as a duet with our daughter.

I have written the lyrics with my daughter, but they can be changed by my wife and daughter as they see fit when we give her our present 🌞

I recommend this idea if you have the time and creative energy - I've had enormous fun creating these presents, and my daughter has learnt a bit about not just how to put creative projects together, put how much effort it takes too.
