Project model railway #40 - Full steam ahead
One of my personal highlights of my model project are the steam powered trains.
In this case it is the ÖBB 52 which was build between 1942 and 1945 which gave her the name Kriegslokomotive (War Locomotive). After the 2nd world war those machines were essential for rebuilding the country and were used in Austria until 1976.
But how does this little model create the steam effect? Magic?
No, it's not magic ;)
Under the chimney, there is a little container with a heating coil inside. In this container you put some drops of a special fluid - the so called Smoke oil.
This smoke oil has a low boiling temperature and creates this typical smoke effect.
Not so nice side effect, your room smells like WD40 after a few minutes :D
Only little amounts needed, handle with care
Only 2-3 drops maximum have to be applied, otherwise you would drown and overfill the heat element which would result in a malfunction. Like giving to much gas while starting an old car.
This train is also equipped with a sound module, so I made a short video for you to enjoy the nostalgia as well :)
I hope you enjoyed our little steam engine trip.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask in the comments.
And as always, don't forget to follow for more information on this project ;)
And the train goes woob woooooob tschutschutschutschutschu love it :D
