Copyright - What does it have to do with you?
What does copyright have to do with you?
Well if you are serious about blogging, you had better learn the rules. Search the web. There are plenty of articles out there informing you about how to write blogs in a professional manner.
I am not a lawyer, and do not understand all the nuances of copyright law. I can just share with you what I have learned as a content provider for over 20 years.
If you are a serious blogger, and I assume you are, you will be concerned about the protection of your own work! What you write ( if it is original and not plagiarized) is protected under copyright law. In the same way, the imagery you use in your blog is protected under copyright law.
Don't assume an image is free because you found it on a "free" site. I have had many of my images removed from such sites! Research an image, before you use it. Trace it all the way back to the actual creator and the agency if applicable!
But, no matter what the terms of usage are, one thing remains the same - YOU MUST NEVER REPRESENT AN IMAGE AS YOUR OWN WORK IF YOU DID NOT CREATE THE ORIGINAL YOURSELF!
Just a little something to think about over the weekend!
Thanks for taking the time to read this! I appreciate it.
To find my photography and designs on Steemit, please search on #dianemacphoto.
I like dead trees, and backlit trees, and landscapes.
I hope many people will start posting their most creative photos, and making them available to others with creative commons..
For me, it's more fun to share, than try to make money with my photos.
I plan to post mine with links to the originals with full resolution, so the image details can be appreciated, since my new camera is 20mp, they are really amazing to see.
All my own photography is Creative Commons Attribution licensed. The license can be checked from Flickr by clicking on the picture here. Now I wonder if I should be more clear about it on Steem.
please share what u know thx

It's the tip of the iceberg, but thanks!
Great post thanks for your info
I suggest you check your posts. almost every image you are using is a stock image from Shutterstock or Getty! I hope you will head the information. Those are not free images.
Yes I'm new user and don't known before, Thanks you again and I follow
I know, it's a big problem. you are not the only one. I'm glad you are going to take action. You can't just use a stock photo as if it were your own to make money on. That's not fair to the artist who created it. Once you become an experienced blogger, you are going to want your work protected too. There has to be more done on Steemit, so that brand new users don't use it like Facebook! And it seems that most people are new to blogging, image usage, and copyright issues.
Yes I known well thanks
@dmcamera, I disagree because, historically, things were different.... and the patent thing... the copy right thing is something that is used to hurt people too much with
It only hurts the people who want something for nothing!
I believe that the copy right thing is not the full story
Meaning what?
And not just images... a lot of people write contents that are obviously from other sources.
Exactly. Written content is also protected!
Great post many need to see that just download others photos to use

It's a ticking time bomb, the way I see it. I didn't even understand the blockchain until I had been on here a couple of days and started reading about it. I was appalled at the infringing going on, some of it very innocent because people are getting in over their heads trying to be bloggers, and some not so innocent, but I had no idea at first that the images are stored permanently!
Yes it is a worry I didn't know they are stored permanently
I've been reading about the Blockchain. Everything gets stored on multiple data bases around the world simultaneously. Whatever is on here is on for Eternity! I'm also reading that even if an image is removed under DMCA takedown, it is only removed from the site and not all the databases! It's sort of outside the actual Internet.
I really need to do some more research on this
Very pleased to see this post. My original work has been the most plagiarized and robbed within so-called non-profits and awareness groups. I don't have the energy to come after all these people, but it's very true many people think it's a free for all. My question to these people is why can't you think for yourself and come up with something completely original?
More to come! And how much did they invest in your business? $0! I honestly would be a millionaire if I had been paid for all the illegal uses of my work. I have managed to collect on some with the help of Getty.
It was great when my work was distributed on CDs and on transparencies and it was advertised in a paper catalog! The Internet gave the business a huge boost at first, until people found out that they could steal it. It's a pretty sad picture of human nature, that people will take something because everybody's doing it, or just because it easy to do!
Steemit is crawling with stolen work. Now it's on the blockchain and multiple databases. Not happy that one of my stock images is one of those!
It is important to go back to fundamentals of life before coming here
Right! Would you care to share with me what belongs to you, please? It would be nice if you would share the rewards of your hard work with me too. Lol!
Well said and very much worth resteeming. I like articles which are short and to the point :)
Thanks! I agree! I don't have the time to wade through dozens of long winded articles every day. I wrote one fairly long one and someone tried to have a long argument with me and then admitted he had not read the article anyway, so had no idea where I was coming from! Lesson learned! Make your point in a few shorter articles!!
It's a general rule of journalism, yes, and even more so here, where money comes before content and many good articles remain unread.
Thanks! I agree with you!
