Cooking with Curry Powder

Jerk this, Jerk that, for your information, Jamaican kitchens aren't just filled with Jerks. A couple of weeks ago, I spent some JAHM on Jamaican Curry Powder at the @iriegiftshop. I love trying and buying spices - Jamaican Curry is a great blend of Coriander, Tumeric, Cumin, Pepper, Chili, Ginger, Mustard, Fennel and Fenugreek. While there is nothing wrong with Jerk Spice, we especially loved some of the curry dishes down there and just had to bring the main ingredient home.

I've been experimenting with some Curry Concoctions. Curry Spice and Walkerswood Seriously Hot Sauce made some great marinade for this Eye of Round.

Although it could have been marinated longer, the curry with the hot sauce made for an excellent steak. You can also add the Jamaican curry powder to the veggies, onions, and peppers. Pairs well with a glass of Merlot or Dragon Stout.

Curried vegetables are just as good as curried meats. For the lovers of veggies, vegans and Ital's in the house, one way of making your food taste great is to add a little love-Jamaican Curry Style. Spice is the variety of life.

Baked n' Curried potatoes are a great way to start one's day. Serve with a combination of ketchup and hot sauce to provide you with the calories you need to blog for hours on end.

My favourite creation, one that is worthy of a post on its own is Curry Chicken Chow Mein. Where east meets west, this dish is as multicultural as it gets. Infused with fine flavours from around the globe, this made everyone's mouth in the lunchroom water with jealousy.

At the centre of it all is Jamaican Curry Powder. Purchased in a historic second real-world use of JAHM ever, thanks to the Iriegiftshop in Negril.

Who let the 🐈 in the kitchen ?! Good work man.Do get some of the all purpose seasoning from irie876 to rub some more flavor into that beef. With most Jamaican meat dishes , the marinating time is important for the taste. With the chow mein you can get that instant flavor.

All-purpose seasoning may be referring to all-spice? I always marinate chicken/pork, but decent beef done on the skillet is different. I was just messing around and prefer a steak with just salt and pepper. A Dipping sauce or something to brush on the meat is great for cheaper cuts.

The chow mein was amazing and will definitely be made more often.

I think 🤔 that’s the name for it. Yeah man- chow mein is a hit.

That food looks simply exquisite. I also use curry for some meals, I am a passionate cook, but little published about it.
Recently, talking to a friend who is a chef, I found out that curry was a combination of different spices. Funny that, and it will vary depending on the country and/or area where it is made. But it's a good seasoning.

I imagine you've given a good banquet @crypticat

Post some recipes and foodstuff, it's a good way to find new followers. Blogging about cooking is easy, you just have to take photos while you do it. I just have to remember to take the photo before piling up the plate and looking like a slob :)

This has really made me laugh... you're right, at least for those of us who cook often it's something that's not far away or difficult to do, a post about or what we do in the kitchen. It's okay. You reach out to other types of users.

That is a lot of food you got right there.
Jerk, curry, hot sauce, steak, you name it.
mushrooms, onions, I mean you made a monster dish.
Glad to know you own the kitchen the same way you own

Loved it, the flavour is unique and the hotness is bearable. It's more similar to Sriracha in viscosity than Tobasco, however, it has more flavour than either one.
