RE: Contest Alerts: Active Contest List on 22nd June 2024

6 hours ago, I wrote this:

Whenever I get there, I never know whether to selfishly share the answer or wait to see where others land first

And in typical Steemit fashion, when I decide to be unselfish, the next person to reply shares the correct answer. So there's no point me doing that again.

Here are the reasons why it's the correct answer, rather than the simplicity of it being 2 hours away and on the outskirts of a town and $30 for the night.

In fact she just sat in silence for two hours.
...
We found an RV park on the edge of town... ...but it is only $30 for the night.

It is a bit Flintstone like and rather ruff in places

"Here at Rocking R RV park, we are DOG friendly." - this covers the deliberate misspelling of "rough", suggesting dogs.

It being a bit "Flintstone like" links to the name "Rocking" - the Flintstones being set in "Bedrock" in the Stone Age.

Then suddenly as we entered some small town in the middle of Texas

This was the most obvious clue in my opinion and what took me to the answer.

"The geographic center of Texas is about 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Brady in northern McCulloch County." - so my search naturally took me to "Brady" and that's where the above RV park was instantly highlighted on Google Maps. It's also 2 hours from Austin Zoo, $30 (or as I pointed out earlier, $15 if you become a member) and just outside a small town.

These were the clues that I'm sure of. The ones I'm not so sure of...

she half screamed and half cried "Stop here. Stop now. I need to get a bunch of stuff".

I've not unravelled this clue in its entirety yet - but it's probably linked to the music created by "The Brady Bunch". I've considered that taking half the letters of "screamed" and half the letters of "cried" to see what we get but nothing obvious yet.

We bought 3 boxes of Speer Gold Dot 9mm ammo.

Not really sure on this one. Those bullets come in boxes of 50 so is there significance in the number 150?

Then we bought 3 cans of Rust-Oleum 2x Ultra Cover Spray Paint - they only had Candy Pink, Granite and Orange.

The colours are also potentially a link to the Flintstones - although the choice of paint could simply be their use on vans.

"We're going now"

This is likely a movie reference but I don't know.

Eye of the Tiger

This was sung by a band called "Survivor". Perhaps this is relevant.

I could see through the window that she was getting quite animated

The "animated" element could be another link to the Flintstones or another movie reference - leading us to the main storyline.

In summary, we've identified the location and there are enough clues pointing to this place to be confident. The remainder of the clues must link to the storyline but the dots are too far apart at the moment. Also, my head is still killing me so I need to stop searching.

Good luck @inspiracion - you can take it from here 😉

Sort:

I haven't been able to do much research today because I've been doing some things in my life offline hahaha, but I'm following the comments and updates..🙂

Sameee. I haven't been able to catch up with this stage, last night when SC01 commented it was 5 in the morning here and I was really sleepy 🤣. Just came back from my Sunday league football match, maybe I'll now search for clues. Best of luck 🤞

Good work on solving the extra clues.

Only Ruff In is wrong...

🤔 I see that one of the contacts is called Taunya Ruffin - perhaps that is the "ruff" reference?

On the money this time round !
