in #contest8 years ago

We got to visit the grandkids in Cedar Rapids, IA this weekend.

  • woohoo fun fun fun
    • On the way home we stopped at the 7 year old Bass Pro Shop in Duh Moines.
      • I really liked the way they did the mounts!

I took too many pictures
and don't want to add them all to this post,
so will do something a bit different

  • This calls for audience participation...

See if you can pick the April Fools lie from this list of things I saw this weekend.
Only 1 guess allowed per comment and I will post a pic if it's NOT the lie...

  • HINT: (In other words...) If you want to see a pic of any of the following, guess it...

Pick one!

  • A company spent $1+ million marketing it's products on a display visible from I-80.
  • I ate an Easter Egg doughnut.
  • The Duh Moines Bass Pro Shop has a bowling alley.
  • There were chemtrails preceding the snowstorm.
  • I attended my second ever hockey game.
  • Herbert Hoover is quoted inside the Duh Moines Bass Pro Shop.
  • There is a mounted fish like I caught off the coast of Florida 30 some years ago.
  • The wild boar mounts were muddy.
  • The Iowa record buck scored 307 5/8 Boone & Crockett
  • Hunting is a proud Iowa Tradition.
  • There was a huge alligator gar mount in the DM BPS.
  • There was a mermaid in the DM BPS.
  • I chased a bear up a tree at the DM BPS.
  • There was a beautiful sunset tonight.
  • There were several full buffalo mounts at the DM BPS.
  • Several of the fish mounts were above you, so it looked like you were in the water.
  • There was 6" of snow on the hood of my pickup when I got home.
  • There are 17 mounts in the Archery Pro Shop pic.
  • I count 15 points on the bull elk mount.
  • I spent too much money at Bass Pro Shops on things I needed.

Remember only 1 guess per comment

Then let someone else comment before you guess again...

If you win, I will send you half of all the fishing lures I bought.

I did not expect the pro shop to have a bowling alley, but since it does, it definitely went up several notches in my book!

I've been in places like that before, and I'm always fascinated by them, but I don't know enough about any of it to make any kind of informed decision when it comes to buying. I was into fishing a long time ago when my boys were younger, but that was probably 1998.

Now, before I totally lose my man card here, I do better at Home Depot. However, when push comes to shove, I'm best at Fry's.

Don't ask me why. It just worked out that way. :)

But hardware stores can be so boring.

  • I've yet to see a stuffed buffalo at Lowes!
    • I was really bummed out I looked and found nothing I needed! haha
      • On the other hand... No man has ever said he has enough tools!!!

Oh, I agree, hardware stores can be pretty boring. A Fry's though can get very exciting, and very expensive. :)

I think it was a Cabella's in Las Vegas where we went. Huge store, with a full-sized one engine plane hanging from the ceiling, stuffed animals everywhere. They actually had two bowling lanes and some other game that I didn't get to try. I thought it was pretty awesome. I need to fish out those pictures :)
