According to Wikipedia

A short story is a piece of prose fiction that can be read in one sitting. Emerging from earlier oral storytelling traditions in the 17th century, the short story has grown to encompass a body of work so diverse as to defy easy characterization. At its most prototypical the short story features a small cast of named characters, and focuses on a self-contained incident with the intent of evoking a "single effect" or mood.[1] In doing so, short stories make use of plot, resonance, and other dynamic components to a far greater degree than is typical of an anecdote, yet to a far lesser degree than a novel. While the short story is largely distinct from the novel, authors of both generally draw from a common pool of literary techniques.

When Mindy saw Boby, the neighbour's boy, walking with dead eyes and trying not to cry, she instantly felt her heart bleed. She had liked him for quite a while and wasn't sure herself when that liking became something more. Yet he never noticed.
She asked him about it, and he sighed.
"Ashly was cheating on me..."
At that moment Mindy was torn apart. She had wanted to split them so many times. She should have been happy to hear that. Yet... Why did she feel so sad?

Being in the "love busyness", Tomas didn't have the luxury of attachments. Some of his clients told him that they love him, but that only lasted during the extasy. Then the wemen would pay and he would go.
He knew perfectly how to satisfy a woman and had high expectations as well... But he did not know love. Not the one that people always talked of.
He wasn't unhappy.
One day he had a strange client. A woman that had just become a widdow. She didn't want his services. She didn't even let him undress. He just had to hug her and listen as she cried and told stories of her deceased husband.
Even after that day, Tomas still didn't understand love, but he knew one thing - love is strong!
He was now unhappy.
He felt the emptiness of missing out on something really important.

It was a sunny summer’s day, the gentle wind rustled through her hair and took hold of her face with a cool embrace. She smiled as she walked into the familiar place. Smells and sounds tantalizing her senses. She sat, in the same seat as always, in the window where she could watch the clouds go by and set her mind free to dream.

This was her disguise, all the while keeping a trained eye on her love.

“Same as usual sweetheart?” The server asked her. She nodded and let her eyes reach back towards the counter where he was walking to place her order.

She sighed as her eyes connected. So alluring, so luscious, so tempting was her love. Forbidden it may be, but she could not bring herself to stay away.

The smooth chocolatey skin, the dark velvety complexion, the sweet taste she once knew still on the cusp of her lips.

Licking her lips, she felt her heart yearning to feel her love inside her… at least once more.

She stood up, tall and powerful, staring her love in the eye.

Alas my love, I cannot have you anymore. I am gluten-free she said to the cupcake.

Awesome!!! I literally fell off my couch :) Thank you.

Sometimes love comes in mysterious forms ;) 💜

This is a world difference from your real life story dear @heart-to-heart!
Beautifully written!

Here is my story.

It was night. It was cold. It was raining.
Jeb had forgotten his umbrella. He also forgot his car keys at the office. He was forgetting a lot of stuff these days...
Many people looked with amazement as Jeb was running past them like a maniac.
How could anyone run so fast in such a cold rain? And... What was up with his strange smile? From one ear to the other. As if he didn't feel the cold.
In his hand he held his phone, drenched with water, but still displaying : "It was positive. You are gonna be a father."

That was it.
I didn't count the words.

Thank you for joining my contest

Jimmy was quite a stupid fella. He was a wrestling champion and the strongest sixthgrader in the school. He was approached by many girls but he did not like them. He liked Samantha, the smart girl with the glasses and braces.
Being completely devoid of any understanding of wemen, Jimmy didn't know how to confess. Instead, he often imagined how he saves Samantha by breathing a thug and she falls for him just like that.
One day, he saw the smartest boy in class approaching Samantha with flowers. Blood rushed to his brain and he jumped, punching the boy in the chin.
"Don't you dare! I get to ask her out first!"
Without even realising, he confessed... In the stupidest way possible.
Only then did he remember that the boy had done that with every other girl in class. Samantha's face was just as red as his, but she was smiling.

Shit! I think I went over 200 words.
I hope my entry still counts.

Anna could not look away from an old photograph, which fell from the book. Who would have thought, that in this volume of Jack London between the pages of the book remained a part of her happiness. A little of a part her first love. On the old picture under the shade of a great oak she saw the two lovers.

The next day Eugene went on a trip, from which he never came back. A heavy truck had crushed a small car in a jiffy. All the passengers died. How many destinies have been thwarted by the accident. How many hopes are ruined.

At cheek Anna rolled tears. Many years have passed since then. But she never forgot her first love. The sense of flight, and a feeling, that the future would bring them years and years of happiness and love.

— Mom, did you find the book? The daughter entered the room and saw the weeping mother. — What's wrong with you, dear?

Not answering her mother handed it to dim polaroid picture.

— Is it dad?.. Two women hugged each other and stood, each thinking about your...

11th July:
I was enjoying in a sea full of sand.
I stepped on a poisonous fish, it hurt a lot, it injected poison in my foot.
Back to the beach, trying to find anything that generates heat = kills poison.
Found some girls and their moms on the beach.
The mom helped me with a lighter to press the wound.
The girl came back with a glass of hot water and started pressing it on my wound.
Mom on right, Girl on left side, I got a BONER, foot hurts still.
The mom leaves.
Girl cared for me and we talked, later that night we were rolling in the sand...

@walterz here is my short story ;
This is an original story
It was 3rd of october:the beginning of our college life and the day of making new frinds to start a new journey. I got an admission in a dental college so obviously we had some male and female students in our classroom. And it is the ist day when a guy fell in love a true love with a girl. He however managed to talk to and he expressed his feelings to her and she laughed at his face.
This was the point were she made fun of love and he was broke by the rply he got. Days passed and he was a firm believer of faith and thus had put strong faith in the feelings he had for her. Days passed he grew up hoping that dragged him into more more stress, his physical health was deteriorated. He grew up like this waiting and hoping for 3 years and a day came when the shear strength of his hope string tore apart and finally he gave up on hope and started living a realistic life.
Then came the point after 5 years when the same asked him for repentance for rejecting his love at first and now they live happily together hoping the bond to live forever..

Don't loose hope ever

A short story about love by @naseerbhat

Thank You @steemit and all guys.. Have a nice day. Stay blessed .. bye - bye

Nice contest @walterz, I am glad to participate. My suggestion for future contests is that you do not let the number of up votes decide who the winners are, because there are too many ways to manipulate or pull fake up votes with contests in general when someone has access to bots or various alternative accounts. You can just read the entries and pick the story you like best, some entries have no up votes at all but are great stories.

Thx for the suggestion, But it will be selfish if I choose the winner my self. So I will still use the number of upvotes.
And also I check the upvoters first, are they genuine or not. So don't need to worry about it.

No problem, the number of up votes can be a problem for real new minnows, but either way, best of luck to your contest, I hope you enjoyed my true story nonetheless, great contest.
