Anger Gives Enemies Power to Keep Us Where They Want Us To Be - The Tortoise and The Pig

One day, Tortoise asked his friend Pig to lend him some money to buy clothes for his wife as his wife wouldn’t let him be otherwise and promised to pay back in two weeks.
Two weeks later, Pig went to ask tortoise for his money, but Tortoise pleaded to extend some time for him as he’s sick and spent his money on medicine.
Days later, Pig returned to request his money but Tortoise hid and told his wife to pretend he wasn’t around. Angrily, Pig went away, but told Tortoise wife to inform her husband that he’d return the next day.
Tortoise devised a plan and asked his wife to cover him with mud and pretend to use him as grinding stone to pound medicine.
When Pig returned and was informed that Tortoise is still sick, he insisted on seeing him, but she kept pounding. This annoyed pig so much that he took the grinding stone and threw it over the fence. As Tortoise fell, the mud cracked open and he cleaned himself and entered the compound.
When Tortoise was told about the incident, he concluded that Pig will get his money only if he returns the grinding stone.

noun (plural fables)
A fable is a fictitious narrative intended to enforce some useful truth or precept, usually with animals, birds etc as characters; an apologue. Here's mine;

NO SUCH THING AS ENOUGH

An acorn dropped to the ground and Theo, the squirrel scurried after it.

"No Theo!", Bessie cried "We already have enough acorns. Let's go"

"There's no such thing as enough", Theo said with a grin as he picked the acorn up.

"Can we go now?", Bessie shrugged, not really waiting for a reply as she had already begun walking back home.

Theo looked around to make sure there were no more acorns lying on the ground. Then as he was about to follow after Bessie, he saw an acorn lying beside a shrub through the corner of his eyes. He smiled to himself as he went after it.

As he picked it up, he received the greatest shock of his life. He had just picked up the head of a snake. His fate was now the snake's to decide. Greed doesn't pay afterall.

Igunugun made another appearance. It visited the barn of Baba Bosede and robbed him of his yams, this was the fourth time Igunugun was stealing from a member of the community and everyone was anxious for it to stop.

The only person to have seen Igunugun described it as a beast with claws as long as razors and fangs as long as daggers, a monster created by the eveil witch Karishika to torment the people of our village for exiling her. The women were scared and the men were on edge. As one of the young fit men in the village I was tasked alongside six others with finding and slaying Igunugun.

The Baale armed us with cutlasses and sent us into the forest where it was presumed to reside. My heart was beating erratically and my cutlass was shaking in my hands, I am no warrior but I couldn't let anyone know this or I wouldn't be considered unworthy when I ask for a lady's hand in marriage.

We never found Igunugun, but we did eventually catch the thief, our supposed witness to Igunungun's actions.

Thanks to the Stach team, here's my entry.

His Trick Came To An End

The Tortoise and the Lion were best friends in the jungle. With a family of five, made up of his wife and four children ( 3 females and a male), the Tortoise was a great father who take good care of his family from his subsistence farming proceeds. On the other hand, the Lion had ten children ( 6 daughters and 4 sons), with his wife, making eleven people at home. Everything was going well, the Lion was a hunter, complimented by his friend, Tortoise being a farmer. Each time the Lion came back from hunting, he exchanged part of his meat with the Tortoise for yam.
One year, there was famine in the jungle from June, farms were not producing because of drought. Animals were dying, as such, hunting was a no benefit venture. Members of the two families were in great hunger. At a point, the Lion suggested eating their children, which the Tortoise accepted without thinking. It was agreed that both families will be eating one child each day from a chosen family and the next day would be the turn of the next family. The Lion's family was chosen first and the first son devoured.

When it came to the Tortoise's turn, he tricked both families to eat cooked palm fruit remains. This continued, while the Tortoise hide his children till all the Lion's children were eaten.
The Tortoise was not home the day the Lion visited, he heard noise of children coming from the inner room. When he opened the door, behold all of Tortoise's children were inside playing. In total anger, he killed them all. The Tortoise returned home minutes after the Lion has eaten all his children, and realized that his tricks has come to an end.
