Apart from eating meat and animal products I think the amount of plastic waste I produce is a problem. I buy plastic bottles; food packed in plastic, sometimes even in multiple layers of it.
Plastic has multiple problems:
- It is today mostly made of oil which is a limited resource.
- There are a lot of different kinds of plastics which makes them hard to recycle → the resource oil is lost.
- Most types of plastic are non-biodegradable → if they land somewhere in nature they will stay there for a long time.
Especially the last issue will face a problem for future generations → they will hate me for producing plastic waste.
Oh yes... this is a big one as well. We are trying to cut down on our plastic use, definitely where food storage goes, we've stopped using disposable plastic. It is a small step, but we are looking for more places to stop using it!
