Winds in the sky.

Tonight we are seeking to understand the clouds up above by laying here with our hands under our head and eyes on the skies. I find my mind asking questions. If I were to leave today, would tomorrow be the same? Would the words preached on the mountain top be heard or ignored? Would the love shared, spared, and left in the air be shared? Do those that have been changed help change others? Will the efforts paid be paid forward? Would there be a moment that changes a hardened heart?

The questions go on like an endless stream. A single cloud forms in the sky. The sky draws a picture and we are in awe of the blah. All the Blah's are the natural laws of ta-da. Huh, the ta-da? Well, I can't imagine life without the ta-da's of the world. A world where a random stranger gives a high five. His drive to minimize his pride and acts in random kindness.

His acts, he drives, he fights to end the world’s blindness. Self-righteous is the virus with a timeless cure.

Tonight we lay here with our hands under our head and eyes on the skies. Seeking to understand the clouds up above. I find my mind asking questions. Asking, what is a world without the ta-da's? What is a world without surprises? What is a world without us, lets discuss?

The questions go on like an endless stream.

They spring from the rocks of hearts. New springs give birth to ideas that collect and spread, wide, and free. Some will preach about the east and west. Some travel to destination of togetherness and leave room one for the light above. The light that shines in the center and keeps those around informed, scorned, and in turn affirmed.

Together we stand, surrounded by the surprises. These are the thoughts of yesterday's and the thoughts of today's passions.

Once friends, condemned to the limits, they scrimmage and win. Staring at their ticket to freedom in hand with doubt they will succeed. Standing tall, walking fast, they step into the possible fertility. They are thrilled, exhilarated, and animated. They were enlivened with music and adventure.

Just like a storm their story was dark at first. The rain was heavy and ultimately the wind circled around them. A singular formation changed them forever.

Today they lay there under the clouds.

With their hands under their heads allowing the mind to wonder.

Their eyes on the skies. Their mind asking questions about the night.

When the skies circled like that and it was the start of the end.

Remembering reminds them and creates questions of what if’s?

What if he lived and we didn't? What if our hearts knew love would it hurt any less? What if we hand the chance to go back? Would we change fate? Could we adjust just enough? Would waking up a minute later or a minute earlier make a difference? What if we cause another disaster? Would the ripple effect be worse?

Just like a storm it started with a dark sky. At first our thoughts went dark, then our decisions weighted heavy. Until ultimately our situation controlled us.

There's a lot of deep thoughts and conflicting emotions in here. Packed full of things to make you think. I've thought some of these things too, like even if you COULD go back and change something, how do you know if you would make things better? How would you know if you'd be a better person afterwards? Good post!

I have often told my wife (and others) when the question arose of "would you change anything?" that if it meant not being with my wife today, then I would not change a thing.

So many minute details to consider: if my father hadn't died at 15 and forced me away from the direction I was heading; if I had went to college and continued without quitting the first time; if I had not been willing to destroy myself in a chatroom; if I had not been a smartass at exactly the right moment, I think where I am today would be completely different.

I tell my wife at times that, even though we go through hardships, that we are together, and that I believe every action that happens has to happen, in order for things to align correctly at the end. Just yesterday I told her that a certain person in our lives was about the closest that I would ever consider someone to be a worthless Human Being, but even her existence brought about a change in our lives and mindset.

Even someone as reviled as Hitler brought about some sort of good, as now we can more easily identify those types of individuals with villainous intent and attempt to eradicate them before it is too late. This is my fatalist side coming out, though, as I mildly believe we've been set down with a course in mind. Like a tapestry, if you pull one thread it can affect many others.

Wow, I am beyond blessed by your comment. I find your ability to read various stories with interest, admirable. How do you do that? I wish I could read like you. Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to meeting you. Your wife is a gem and I'm beyond excited to call her my new friend. I just love her so much!

Beautiful thoughts, dear girl. What if?

I don't know if I understand it, but I know I like it! LOL

Well done! This was a good read. Best of luck in the contest!!

Hahahah, honest feed back and I love it. What part did I lose you? How would you recommend I reword it? Look forward to your response

LOL. No, please don't reword it. I just have difficulty with prose and poetry. It flows and reads very well, but I think my attention span just can't keep up.

Which is hilarious since I have always loved Shakespeare. I'm weird.

I don't blame you. I try to keep all my writings around 300 words or at least break it up a little better, but this one was not working with me. I struggled with it too and I wrote it. :D

I can't get over some of those embedded poetic mechanisms. I love the flow, so wispy of soul like the very clouds above. It is the quinessential @kubbyelizabeth in a nutshell, I must say, with dreamy wonder and incredible hope, still asking those most important questions.

Well done.

Thank you again JJ- for the kind comment. It is amazing what our minds can create when we give it the freedom to do it. Practice does make us a little better doesn't it!

Always. You can only hone your skills by continuing to try.

Yes, and when we find friends to help us along the way. Well, that is when we know we have made it in life! thank you!

Indeed. Friends make the world go around.
