MAKE SURE YOU READ EVERYTHING!!!!!!

Comic artist Skottie Young has carved out quite a niche for himself over the past few years. He’s worked in the industry for a while now but really took off when he started doing the “baby” or “kid” superhero versions for Marvel Comics. He’s built up quite a cult following over the years so much so that his art inspired a Statue line by statue makers, Gentle Giant.

Funny part is the line is a couple of years old but is only starting to take off in recent months. At our shop we ordered heavy on the first few as the price points were cheap enough for a statue (65 bucks), and they were “cute”. They sold terrible at the start which I was really surprised about. Both my business partner and I said it would take a bit to get people to start collecting the line and it turns out we were correct in that way of thinking. Silly collectors...

I personally got tired of the endless variant covers by him...rehashing Thor, Hulk, and the rest of the gang as kids but to see them in statue form...it’s a bit refreshing. So let’s take a look at them.

I’ll start off with their most recent which my buddy Ron O picked up for me at San Diego Comic Con. It’s the Gwenpool piece. It’s limited to 1000 and was exclusive to the show.

They all come in the same type of box and are all relatively around the same size.

Last year’s SDCC Exclusive was the Spider-Man piece. This was also a low edition size, limited to just 1000.

2016’s SDCC Exclusive was a badass Rocket Raccoon also Limited to...you guessed it...1000.

Those are the only exclusives they have done so far so let’s look at the regular releases. We will start with the Merc With a Mouth, Deadpool!!! This was one of the earlier ones. Limited to 3000.

Next up we have our favorite blind lawyer, Daredevil! Limited to 2000!

I am Groot. I AM GROOT? i am groot. I Am GrOot. I AM gRooT. I. Am. Groot!

Then we have the character that kicked off the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe...Iron Man. I still cannot believe how perfect of a fit RDJ is for Tony Stark, but that’s a conversation for another day. This sweet piece is limited to 3000.

Hide your jewelry when this dude is around...I’m talking about Magneto. Looks like he was one of those chubby kids that lost the weight as he got older. Limited to 1500 on this lil eater.

Shouldn’t kids be supervised with guns? Eh...who’s gonna tell Lil’ Pun what to do. Sure as hell not me. I’ll just pick on the chubby villain and leave The Punisher alone. I’ll leave all 4000 of these alone actually.

Here we go. Steve Rogers...Captain America. Look how happy he is that they made 3000 of these to sit on shelves everywhere collecting dust. Unless you are like my friend @saywha who loves keeping his toys in the boxes. Psycho.....

This character was part of a mini series...for one issue...and turned into a worldwide sensation. Like Gwenpool above...love her or hate her, you cannot deny that Spider-Gwen is a huge hit. Women and girls are cosplsying as these characters at every convention. That’s a great thing when it can bring in and retain new readers and fans. Spider-Gwen is Limited to 3500.

Next up...we have one of the bravest heroes in the MCU. You may have heard of him before. Im talking about...

That’s right folks. Starlord. The current leader of the film version of The Guardians of the Galaxy. This funny SOB is limited to 3000. That’s nothing to chuckle at. How many statues of you are out there?!?!

———————————————

One of the most fleshed our comic villains on screen comes to us next. I’m talking about Thanos...The Mad Titan. If you haven’t seen Infinity War yet, please do yourself a favor. It was tremendous. Anywho...they made 3000 of this cute mass murderer.

You guys hear that?!? I hear some Thunda!!!! Know what that means??? Make sure your car windows are rolled up...oh and this dude, the God of Thunder himself...Thor. Yeah yeah yeah...3000.

78E595AC-38A0-4CE8-824C-4AC5988D9B7A.jpeg

Vision. 4000. Weird to have only 3000 Thor and 4000 Vision but wtf do I know?!?

86007356-EECA-4371-AB80-03E43D6A62F9.jpeg

Only 2000 of the next one and I can see why...it’s nobody’s favorite character...Squirrel Girl!!! (Created by Ditko btw in a throwaway Holiday special)

E49B34E5-5C6E-427C-8CE2-F10E6C4E6600.jpeg

Then there was this awesome Spidey & MJ piece. This was almost double the price as it was pretty much double the statue. Gentle Giant did the “standard” of 3000 on these. Really cute piece. We sold out quickly on this one.

I believe that’s all that’s currently out now...so I’ll leave you with a few sneaks of some upcoming characters....
