Is it profitable to host sports contests if you promote them?

in #contest6 years ago (edited)

Note: "promote them" means buying upvotes to increase prize pool. For example, @skepticology and @maarnio don't do this.

Note 2: SBD = author reward from post and comments minus promote minus payout. SP = SP + STEEM.

For six months profit was -301.259 SBD and +323.547 STEEM.

Current exchange rate SBD/STEEM is 1.17.

It will be (323.547*1.17)-301.259= 77.291 SBD or 95.84 USD per 6 months.

And (95.84/180) = 0.53 USD per day.

Conclusion

  • So if you want to start host sports contests , then you know that you only grow up reputation, but you will not earn much.
  • All the contests hold on to enthusiasm, but not the desire to earn.

Interesting, does the profit come from the buying the votes directly or the extra contestants it attracts?

I think it attracts more contestants. It can be seen on the example of contests from @nanzo-scoop, @acidyo and @steemitboard

To the question in your title, my Magic 8-Ball says:

Very doubtful
