Here is my story entry entitled Deadly Sins
Prayers, I awoke to the sound of prayers from my fellow monks. Prayers as I lay on my pallet dressed on the brown, course cloth of my habit. Prayers I started to say as sweat permeated by brow as I had another of those dreams.
Prayers to the dead haunting my dreams, with their accusing eyes and their silent screams. Prayers to me as I relieve the horrors that lead to these dreams.
Prayers were being said by the orphans I was taking care of on the war torn continent of Africa. Prayers I said were our Lifeline to God and a means to have hope. Prayers are vocalized hope that we needed in these dire times.
Prayers were being said when armed soldiers burst into the church. Prayers grew louder as the orphans were dragged to their feet and led outside.
Prayers were the only thing I could do as my words of protests were drowned out by the barked orders of those in command to take everything of value and the food.
Prayers were the only thing I can say as the soldiers started ripping clothes as they raped and sodomized the orphans. Prayers and tears combined as I could do nothing as they violated my wards.
Prayers to give me strength as I inched towards one of our captors and took his gun. Prayers to the souls of the soldiers I mowed down with automatic fire. Prayers and rage as I questioned why God would allow this.
Prayers were the last thing I heard as the barrel of a gun struck me from behind and knocked me out.
"Prayers are useless Father, as you are in hell" said the commander as I came to. "Prayers are for fools as what works here are guns." "Prayers are no match to might. Prayers are of no use if I decide to kill you now preacher" he said with a sneer.
"Prayers will not save you here as you killed my men, an eye for an eye then." He said . "Prayers to your children then as I will have them doused with oil and you as well. Then you will have to choose who will die as you will need to burn two children for every man you killed or I will kill you all."
Prayers to all the saints to give me strength and forgiveness as I lit a match and set myself on fire.
"Prayers and taking your own life is not going to save them preacher as you are the last to die." He said as his soldiers put out the fire.
"Prayers to your soul and the kids who will die preacher as you now have to choose."
Prayers to the those I unlucky lit as I reasoned out in my head to sacrifice a few and save the rest. Prayers for forgiveness as I hear their screams and prayers for it to be over.
"Prayers are of no use Father but you saved the few by doing action that led some to their deaths." He smiled devilishly " "prayers will not be enough to clean the sins you did today." He said as he boarded his truck laden with our medicine, food and a few more children he fancied.
Prayers were the only thing I could do as I sat there watching him leave and smelling the acrid smell of the burnt bodies.
Prayers were the first and last thing I heard in my cell wearing my brown habit, chained to the wall and seeing their accusing eyes and their silent screams whenever I closed my eyes.
You painted a very dark picture in my head with this story, @maverickinvictus. Made me feel like I'm truly there.
Thank you very much for your entry ! ^^
