Participation of Ned Scott (CEO of Steemit) in Consensus 2018

in #consensus6 years ago (edited)

Today the Blockchain takes the world by surprise, New York dresses up to become a center for the development of blockchain. the largest event in the world dedicated to bitcoin, cryptocurrency and technology, called Consensus 2018, organized by CoinDesk.

Today on the opening day, just at 2:20 p.m. (-5 GMT) the event had as a panelist the CEO of Steemit and Smart Media Token (SMTs), Ned Scott (@ned) to talk about CONTENT MONETIZATION AND TRUE NET NEUTRALITY , While there's a political debate going on around net neutrality, it amounts to little more than who gets to profit from content creators: internet service providers or platform providers like Youtube and Facebook. This panel convenes a group of people who flip this debate so that content creators have skin in the game to monetize their creations.

Below the video of the participation:

In summary, some of his words were:

"For me it's all about building networks and empowering people"
"We were the 1st to realize that cryptocurrency can get distributed just like points on Digg"
"I am very, very bullish on the future of cryptocurrency and the distribution through social networks is an accelerator for it"
"The most important thing is the platform, not the app"
"We want to introduce tokens on the Steem platform, so that anybody can issue their own token"
"Steemit stores text permanently. Taking down content from a blockchain is a legal issue"
On responsibility for content "Applications in contrast to platforms are not completely decentralized today." Their operators can always take down the content. "
"Spread of information is in particular spread of information about people's reputation, it helps you decide who to do and not do business with"
"Sake based system amplifies wealth accumulation"
"We are working on solving the Whale problem by one person one vote approach"
"Steemit offers benefits, but blockchain is just a feature. Content is more important than blockchain or cryptocurrency in most of the cases"

This event takes place at the Hilton Midtown in Manhattan, until May 16, with the presence of more than 8,000 guests from around the world and the formation of panel discussions with 250 speakers and experts, including Don Tapscott (Blockchain Research Institute), Jed McCaleb (Stellar), Marco Streng (Genesis Mining), Charlie Lee (LiteCoin) and Zoho Wilcox (Zcash).

@jmhb85 has set 0.500 SBD bounty on this post! logo_for-light-bg_1000.png What is a bounty exactly?

A bounty is money sent to a post to be distributed to the users commenting on it. It provides a way to reward users directly and works in addition to the steem/sbd they receive from the blockchain. It works independently of SteemPower.

You create a bounty by sending any amount of sbd/steem to @steem-bounty together with a post-url in the memo.

How can I earn a bounty Users are then competing for the bounty by writing their answers to the post in comments that will achieve upvotes from the community and especially the bounty creator. The money of the bounty gets distributed to all top level comments of the post at the same time when the post is paid out (7 Days after it was written). How much everyone gets depends on the votes the comments received. The sender of the bounties votes are weighted higher so that she decideds where 80% of the bounty money goes and all other votes determine the rest.

@steem-bounty does all of this for you automatically. You can use this service to automatically pay out a challenge, ask a hard question or simply to reward the people that interact with you.

Read more about how it works, even in different languages here.

Congratulations to the following winner(s) of the bounty!

  • @yourinfo has earned 1.256 SBD. 0 SBD from the creator of the bounty and 1.256 SBD from the community!

"We want to introduce tokens on the Steem platform, so that anybody can issue their own token"

Amigo gracias por compartir tan valiosa información, lamento no conocer a steemit en el 2016 pero bueno el tiempo de Dios es Perfecto.

This is very optimistic and encouraging. Enjoyed going through it. Thanks

Ned is a bit wooden if you ask me, lol, what do you think?

it looks like the budget for his hairdo ran out.

I think it would help so much if steemit found something new to say, I think everyone's heard what they're saying already.
