A collection of greatest hits in recent articles, podcasts, videos, interviews, and general material for your perusing!

(1) Winning at the Great Game - Knowledge Project

What an excellent podcast! Should Part 1 suit your fancy, you may as well listen to Part 2.

Why I enjoy this podcast so much is because Adam explains the concept of game theory in a practical sense, rather than the academic sense. He provides us with a number of specific examples on how anything and everything can be made into a game. For example, he uses his experience as a tutor to discuss the gamification of the education system.

The discussion then branches into artificial intelligence and machine learning, providing a fantastic overview of these misunderstood topics in the process. For anyone exploring data science and machine learning, this podcast is well worth your time to understand what is happening in these areas as they will directly impact all of our careers in the future.

(2) 18 Rules for Living a Happy Life

Although there's no shortage of reasons and rules to living a happy life, I found these from Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, to resonate quite well.

Amongst my favorites: "Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time."

(3) Why Renewables Can't Save the Planet

The name of the game in reducing man's impact on Earth's environment lies in decarbonization.

Whether this happens via technologies that remove carbon from the atmosphere or reduce the amount of carbon we emit, the fact is that the future is nuclear.

Long uranium. Long Planet Earth.

(4) Her

I realize this is an older movie (released in 2013), yet I've just watched it for the very first time and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

A healthy combination of social commentary, comedy, satire, romance, and technology. It produces some interesting thoughts around the impact of technology on the relationships we have with those around us, in addition to the relationships we have with ourselves. Joaquin Phoenix kills it, per usual.

(5) Bitcoin Narrative - Marty's Bent

For those who've been following along on this blog for some time, it's no secret that narrative development plays directly into several of our overarching theses.

In this particular update, Marty goes into explaining his thought process on how the narrative around Bitcoin will be intentionally constructed (positively or negatively) so that regulators, compliance offers, and legacy enterprise can wield influence over the beast that is Bitcoin.

(6) How VPNs Work

I found this Twitter thread on how exactly VPNs work to be fascinating. Especially when considering how much of an emphasis we place on VPNs being vital for security, privacy, and data integrity nowadays.

Something else of interest is the fact that a recent study found a substantial proportion of VPN providers are owned by companies domiciled in questionable countries. Do your homework.
