We have a new champion! @cstrimel beat @godofbit by the narrowest of margins with @len.george rounding out the podium in third place.
@calatorulmiop was in it right up to the end and crossed the line breathing down @len.george's neck.
This was such a close race!

This is the happiest I’ve ever been while not being able to sleep at 4:00am :). Thanks for running the contest. I am going to celebrate by convincing my family to take a trip to NZ to do this race for real someday. I already have them on the hook as they were following the race :). This seriously was more fun and interesting than I would have imagined. It really got me thinking about my own dream of doing an ultra. I have up marathons a few years ago, and really have no desire to do another on pavement, but a trail run sounds awesome. Watched my brother and sister in law do their first trail ultra last spring and will be doing the 1/2 with them this fall.

There will be more courses in the future. I have a couple of other courses that I have run, and I'm doing my next one in a couple of weeks.
I'm going to try and get some photos and videos and stuff of the courses to put up to make it a bit more interesting as well.
Sounds good. I know I said this before but I think this has a lot of potential. I’m planning to share the wealth by the way. Thinking about a contest along the lines of share your best workout.
I think it has potential too, so I'll persevere with it.

Well done to all the racers and the organiser, The race finished quick, I thought we still had one more day to go.
Yeah that surprised me too. I thought be might get one finisher out of it, but not everybody.

At the start of this run, you were going to give a hint/call on the difficulty of the next few Ks, so the runners knew how hard to go for this section, a good idea that I didn't see happen.
I need new glasses as well.
Is it possible to have the occasional scenery shot of the course, obviously this would only be the ones you have run on. It is good on the few trial runs you have done this on to see where and what you can see on that trail.
How hard to pick the start of the WUU2 [or whatever it is called, change over to the middle of the Ruahine? train track run and end up chasing the Taniwha ?
Just telling you how to run your game.
What I'm going to do after the next ultra is run the course with a camera and video it most of it so you can see what it is like. I'm planning on doing 6 videos each covering a 10km block from one aid station to the next.
Mixing the tracks up could be interesting. but i think I'd do that in a year or so for a championship round. i.e. get all the winners from previous races to compete on a combined course, or something like that.
By then I should have a few more courses to throw into the mix as well.
But first - I need to work out how to get the game to run at a profit ;-)

It was really surprising just how close everyone was in this game. Right up until the end it could have been just about anyone's game.
