Steemit Frustrations Rant

So, I'm just a super naive minnow, swimming in shark infested waters, hiding among all the other minnows!

I started Steemit as a way to get my tippy-toes wet in the whole crypto-currency thing. I wanted to support the whole BLOCKCHAIN technology, and the idea of "open-source" ideas...

Then, as I started to look around for stuff to do, I started joining various writing contests. Some of them are all about who gets the most votes, so I had to run away, because I noticed immediately it was more about popularity, rather than quality; It was obviously feeding a 'clique.'

I even felt that in one of them, it was all staged just to get the upvotes. But, I have found some really good ones too, it just takes a bit of effort to weed through them.

I joined a "we will resteem you" type of effort, (without mentioning any names), but either they were biased to my content, or just not very reliable. I brought it to the attention of one of the members, who was very apologetic, but the following week I was overlooked, or ignored, once again. But, again, I'm just a naive minnow, what do I know?

I'll be damned if I'm gonna "pay" for votes or resteems either. There's no rush... It is not THAT important at this stage in my life.

Because I am doing this as a learning experience, and not to get rich, I can live with the lack of enthusiasm I get when I post something. It's not much different than the "Likes" I get, (or don't get) on Facebook, just depends on who's looking at the time. It really sucks though, when you can actually see 25 people have viewed it, and only 4 actually upvoted it! LOL!!
(And then, none of them have any juice in their votes anyway!)
But, it's still nice to get recognized, and appreciated.

I refuse to BEG for votes and resteems as well. Seriously, I refuse to be that person!

I am still gonna keep doing what I've been doing. It's good practice, and I certainly don't want to have to rely on Steemit to live, or survive! I'm totally "old-school" so social media is NOT the only way to get things done! I have a website I am building, and I have other projects and goals that have nothing to do with any social media platform.

I don't want to be another whiner like so many other posts that I come across, especially on the weekends; As a matter of fact, it was one of those posts that led me to write this one today! It actually began as a reply in his post! But, then I felt it was too long, and personal, and I decided to just shoot it from my own blog instead.

I guess what I'm trying to say, is, It's okay whatever happens! There are so many avenues to use in order to be seen or heard. This platform, as well as other social media platforms, are just like life! There are some really great people in it; Then, there are the cheaters, and the abusers of loopholes. The ones that share similar beliefs and ideas, and the ones that are just out to step on anyone to make a buck!

In the meantime, for those that are perhaps struggling to get noticed, well, WELCOME TO MY WORLD!!
