Why I Would Like A 500 SP Delegation - Creating a STEEM Platform: Say Steemit On National Television, in Print and Social Media
https://steemit.com/community/@suesa/do-you-want-500-sp-delegation
Somewhere between the clock ticking 12 mn and 12:59pm on the 2nd of December 2017 I took on a new Title. Celebrity, TV presenter, Pitch Woman, Christ Follower, Mom, Sister, Aunt, Nurse, Professional Organizer, Teacher and Author now had wiggle on over on the bench to make room for STEEMIAN.
Steemit.com . Steemian? What the Heck is that?
That is what I said to my son who introduced me to the Steemian Ocean. He tossed me in the unknown waters. He said, “Mom, you love to take pictures and you like to write. It’s your thing."
I never heard of THIS THING. I didn’t feel scared but I did feel confused. I tried to swim, but this took a new kind of stroke. Standard strokes or even the breaststroke don’t work here. But no one gave me a study guide for this course, how was I going to learn? Minnows need something else. New Steemians or Minnows as I found out we’re called, need specialized help. They need a bigger fish, a mentor or a momma to imitate or learn from.
Suddenly, I had to learn a new language to go with my new title. It wasn’t just minnow, it was whale, dolphins, Steem Power, SP, bots, witnesses, blockchain and so much more. Like a fallen water-skier I was bouncing along on the water on my aching bum. There were a few Steemians who were super kind and encouraging and that felt good, like a full tummy after a satisfying lunch. I think of them warmly.
But, I needed to know more. I was a homeschool mom for 6 years. I have this built in gene to learn and understand. What is this crazy thing called Steemit? What other skills did I already cultivate that I could put to use to help me make sense of this big ecosystem I was swimming in? Then the light bulb came on, a big 200 watt, eye squinting one. I would chart Steemit, just like I do when I present products on national TV to 98 million people for the last 17 years. I am a TV presenter, a pitch woman, a category expert; I know some stuff about products! To do my job, I regularly craft a series of necessary paperwork to make the product understandable to me and my loyal customers. Then its hair, makeup, Mic check and ---- Vonabell, camera one, we are live in 3,2,1. I am live in your living room or even your smart phone.
My very small group of STEEMIT followers included a few REALLY smart guys. (Did I already say they were very kind too?) Just a handful of them jumped in to give me input so I could graph Steem in a way that made sense to me. (And hopefully would make sense to others) Granted my WSGAT chart (What”s So Good About That ) has limited space and capability to chart all that STEEM is, but decorum and SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) requires I can only write what fits on one page. That’s the rules of the game. A WSGAT form charts Features and Benefits, and STEEM has many more than can fit on my chart so I had to draw the line somewhere. But here it is.
It was interesting to use my gifts to help the Steem Ecosystem. The chart represents hours of work, tweaking and re-tweaking as ones smarter than me gave insights and nuances. I think it can help others to be encouraged to use their gifts. My process, because of my life experience, brings a uniqueness and I hope, others swimming with, ahead and behind me will feel inspired.
Like a rock skipping on the surface of the water I enjoy bouncing around the Steem Ocean reading different posts and gaining knowledge. Sometimes I find the need to set anchor so I can deeply take in the thoughtful words another Steemain has so graciously taken the time to pen. I upvote, I chat, I engage and when I learned where that darn re-steem button was and the urge hit, I re-steemed.
I also invested. Cold hard USD. (Ok,maybe I had to make it litecoin first, I think, but you get it) And don’t think I was smart enough to do that by myself. Remember that son from paragraph one, apparently changing his diapers in a timely manner is paying off 30 years later. Does investing part of my hard earned pay check benefit me? I don’t know quite yet, but I took the gamble. It’s one of the things I did to show commitment to the Steemian Network.
There are many ways of to communicate a message and creative ways to create a buzz. Sometimes TV personalities send messages out to loved one using code on TV. A little hand signal, a wink, a special word that means something only to the ears tuned to it. Sometimes you are allowed the privilege of a transparent proclamation, like the time I got to wish my baby sister a Happy Birthday during my show.
Hosts and on air guests on the E- Retail network I present on regularly mention Facebook, Pinterest and more during our shows. I refer to one of my awesome trendy and colorful Panasonic Irons that have a very convenient cover and carry case as, “Pinterest Pretty”. So one day while presenting a terrific Humidifier on TV I was able to send an incognito shout out to the next great thing …the Steem community. It was seamless. After all I was working with a cool mist, so saying the cool mist wasn’t Steemit was a natural. No harm, no foul, just love.
It’s on Youtube. You can hear Steemit said on national TV to 98 million people at minute 1:06 and 10:15
Do you know the story of the Star Thrower? There was a boy who one by one threw star fish that had washed up on shore back in the ocean. There were hundreds and hundreds of them of them , so someone challenged the young boy about the value of what he was doing. “There are so many you can’t make a difference”. As the boy picked up yet another star fish to throw back in the ocean he said, “Well, I made a difference to that one.”
So maybe I too can make a difference one starfish, I mean Steemian, at a time.
After engaging one on one and saying Steemit on national TV, at about 5 weeks into my Steem voyage I decided to share Steem with one of my FB networks. Over 2,000 lovely people. They have gifts, talents and ideas to add to Steem too.
But … OH…. but how to explain Steemit.
It seems crazy. I used those exact words just weeks before myself.
So I went with that, Yes, it seems CRAZY and trudge on from there
“ OT: I have something important to share. At first it will be a lot to wrap you head around. Remember how in 2011 not too many people knew about Bitcoin but now pretty much everyone has heard of it. And then came Ethereum and Litecoin? All called Cryptocurrency. If I had listened to my son in 2011 I would be a Bitcoin millionaire. I made an account and it sat there-- it was all so new and crazy-- so I did not put money in though I easily could have. Well in December 2017, he told me I needed to make a STEEMIT account.
What the heck is Steemit?
I made the account. Steemit.com
Steemit is kind of a "monetized facebook. Instead of giving "likes", you give "upvotes". Upvotes are worth money (makes FB a waste of time?)
My son said mom, "Tell them about your TV work, your modeling, your trip to Israel and whatever else you want to write about. Post Pix. I did. The result so far? Over 1,000 ------
You can also invest a bit of money in Steemit, because like cryptocurrencies the value goes up-- but you dont have to. They call it Steem dollars. So I did a little investing. Doing that made my votes worth more to other people. Crazy? Yep.
The world is crazy. But it's real.
Steemit.com is built on a block chain, just like Bitcoin, only better. Steemit apparently functions faster than similar Block chains. It’s a cloud ledger.
Within Steemit there are groups, people group over their interests. When you make a post, you get to tag it with 5 titles and it pops up in those venues. TONS of homeschool stuff, organic gardening, travel, Christians, scripture, photography, and every interest you can think of. TONS of secular stuff too. Steemit was created on libertarian principles; there seem to be many libertarian minded people within Steemit. There is no censuring so while I don’t agree when someone throws the F word-- I don’t have to read their posts either, just like FB. You choose who you want to follow, kind of like instagram-- or choose to follow no one.
I was thinking ****** could write about her journey with her son and earn money and ****could have her travel blog there. ***** your kids can have their photography skills make money, they often run contests. I entered a pix of me sky diving for a contest about "biggest fears". I was one of their winners!
They say "Content is King" they want great content and people to connect… it’s a worldwide platform.
I know, it’s crazy. In 2009 they said Bitcoin was crazy and today 1 bit coin is worth 16,000 dollars and it's very valid.
Google Steemit. I hope we can all make money and make friends!
If you decide to invest or make your acct more powerful, There are some intricacies to getting USD to Steemit, I had to use my coinbase.com account to buy litecoin and transfer lite coin into Steem. It’s all learning :) But don’t be afraid to learn.”
(that was the end of that post )
No one had directly heard of Steemit, some had had whispering of something different out there. My post caused a maelstrom of comments. The immense swirling of questions demanded answers. Everyone needed help clarifying. I did my best. I posted my WSGST chart to them and if the one asking questions was also in the homeschool community, I told them to have her kids do a book report on Steemit and Cryptocurrencies. I told them they will learn together and that when their kids are adults Cryptocurrencies will be more common place.
I explained to one mom;
I have a friend whose child 20 plus years ago had learning disabilities and her handwriting was very poor. The Doctor told the mom, don’t sweat it, it does not matter, by the time she is an adult everything she will write will be done on a keyboard. Seemed absolutely crazy at the time. But it’s now very true. I know if you never heard these words like Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin, it sounds weird. But it’s not. It’s just new to you. Because of *** illness you know more about brain Cancer and healthy eating than you ever thought you would a half dozen years ago. At age 20 I knew nothing about sociopath narcissists, I didn't even know the words existed. Then I married one and I know more than I need to know and can write a book. Oh wait, I just spent 1 1/2 years writing that book ! I wish I didn't have to know about that, but am glad I am learning about cryptocurrencies and Steemit. It’s not for everyone but it is for some and can be very profitable for minimal or great effort. But first you have to conquer your fear of the new and unknown. There is no financial risk to join Steemit and post. On Dec 2nd 2017 I felt just like you, this is a bit crazy. Is this real? Please have the kids do the book reports on this subject and study with them. The world is changing. I think by sharing ***story and all the things you have learned will benefit the Steemit community and you will get many upvotes ($ ) which will help pay for all his needs.”
So, this is my story. I have presented what I have done and what I hope I can do.
I linked your post, and will put my link in your post.
If I get to bow my head and be graced with the Gold Medal of 500 SP for jumping in,keeping my head above water and contributing to the community, I will throw a buoy to other minnows and help them improve their stroke and skill.
I would try to find a few Minnows to be a mentor momma to.
I have begun the Steemit swim and though I can’t walk on water, I can try to blaze through the Ocean and take other Steemians with me.
STEEM ON!!
It seems that you have done a lot for Steemit and I hope it will reward you because you definitely deserve it. I personally love the chart you have created because it helps people who are new and they want to know more about the platform and how it works. It's really well done.
Thank you for contributing to the Steemit Community.Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to your next posts.
Thank you so much! I learned a lot creating that chart-- its kind of like the teacher preparing the lesson learns the most . I look forward to seeing you in the feeds! I appreciate your kind words.
Hi Vonabell, what I like best about your prose is it's complex simplicity. You have a nice way of skillfully incorporating meticulous detail in an everyday, understandable sort of way; I've noticed it in several of your posts. You honestly take me by surprise. I don't watch television, let alone buy anything off the television so I had no idea who you were. I happened to read one of your replies to my pal @lovejoy "in between nail polish coats" at HSN which led me to your other content- my default judgement of on-air HSN personalities was instantly shattered. My though process went like this: wait...here's this Stepford wifey looking lady that that is open enough to be involved with crypto currency and the Steemit blockchain, is able to create a cost/feature/benefit analysis rivaling any engineering table, can plan and navigate in and around Israel with Mossad-like skill, and probably knows that cultured Pseudomonas aeruginos smells like grapes? THIS PERSON IS AWESOME! Kudos to your commitment to the ongoing process of learning and sharing your knowledge with the entire community. Keep up the great content!
Thank you for your kind prose. I am once again multi tasking. I am listening to my very first Town Hall meeting on Discord by #mspwaves. I'm dizzy with new information.
I am glad you think I am not a Stepford wife. :) and I am honored you think I am AWESOME! Some days we all need to hear that. I will try to do great content and once in a while probably some fluff too. One persons fluff is another persons treasure?
It's nice to hear that you read my post through @lovejoy. Sometimes you wonder if any eyes glanced over the words you typed and appreciated the effort. So, your words are encouraging.
Blessings and Steem On !
